[Edit: UPDATED Specs]

I'm planning on a cheap entertainment PC.. I'm looking for suggestions on options, price, and (possibly) dealers in Pune where I could get it from..

I've also put in some more details after the Q template

The stuff:

1. Q: What is your budget?

1. 30K (stretchable for a killer component)

-

2. Q: What is your existing hardware configuration (component name - component brand and model)

1. Creative speakers (from my old rig)

-

3. Q: Which hardware component are you looking to buy (component name). If you have already decided on a configuration then please mention the (component brand and model) as well, this will help us in fine tuning your requirement.

1. Dell S2410 / BenQ 2420HD

2. WD 1 TB

3. 2x2GB DDR3 @1333 - Transcend

4. Corsair SMPS (450W may be)

5. DVD+RW (any) / BluRay (but not if its too expensive over the DVD+RW)

6. CM Elite 342/341 [[ Simple + Plain small black cabinet (tower preferred) ]]

7. BioStar TA790GX A3+

8. AMD Phenom II 5500 BE

9. Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 (may dump this for a half decent remote setup if the budget squeezes)

-

4. Q: Is this going to be your final configuration or you would be adding/upgrading a component in near future. If yes then please mention when and which component

1. More storage

-

5. Q: Where will you buy this hardware? (Online/City/TE Dealer)

1. Pune, TE Dealer in Pune

-

6. Q: Would you consider buying a second hand hardware from the TE market

1. No

-

7. Q: What is your intended use for this PC/hardware

1. !!no gaming!!

2. HD movies, HD rips, DVDs, DVD-rips

3. General computing / Development

4. 24x7 DLs

-

8. Q: Do you have any brand preference or dislike? Please name them and the reason for your preference/dislike.

1. Brand preference: None

2. Preference: Low on noise.

-

9. Q: If you will be playing games then which type of games will you be playing?

1. None

-

10. Q: What is your preferred monitor resolution for gaming and normal usage

1. 1440 (atleast), 1920 preferred

-

11. Q: Are you looking to overclock?

1. Nope

-

12. Q: Which operating system do you intend to use with this configuration?

1. Win7, worst case XP, Ubuntu VMs

Some additional details to help with the above config:

-- I'm not planning on gaming even in the future on this rig. I want this to be a power saving low noise 24x7 friendly rig with a small cabinet which I'd prefer to happily hideaway.

-- I'm not planning to make it a full blown HTPC either. No TV tuner planned. No TV outs + HT surround etc either. Most of my audio will be stereo and all audio out of my existing Creative speakers. Most of the data will be read off HDDs old and new. Most upgrades will only be on HDDs.. Not too keen on BluRay at the moment. May consider it in the future..

-- All this will be in a room that's 10x10 ft, and I sleep in that room very close to the PC. So, a rig that goes cooler on temperature and noise for 24x7 is high on desired reqs.

I'm also looking for dealers in Pune..

So, any suggestions would be welcome ..

thanks in advance,

24*7 DLs means high power consumption you might wanna get an Athlon II 240/250. And on the saved money get a 24 incher :)
