Well its my "special" friends birthday in a few weeks and I thought I'd get her a gold ring for the occasion. Now heres the deal, my budget is very, very, very limited. Just got my first job a few months ago and haven't saved anything since then :P.

How much would a cheap, cheap ring cost? Would it be possible to get something in the 5-7k range? Otherwise I guess its time for plan B..

I guess its possible but I dont think it will make anybody happy, and I will suppose thats the purpose of a gift, rather look for something else, there are lotsa things in that price range that will/can make her happy,

^ Thats what I was thinking too. I could probably get her an okayish watch or clothes or something. But if Tanishq have stuff like what the poster before you suggested then I guess its worth a look.

Personally I hate cheap stuff, would rather not buy it, but just had a thought, that maybe I could get something decent in that range :P.

Googled a bit and the stuff with diamonds in them is riduclously beyond my means, lol...I hate being poor! But how about semi-precious stones? I'll look around I guess...gotta go out into the sunshine for this...ugh..

A watch is a better alternative for that budget any day! 5k would get you a beautiful watch from Titan (possibly from the Raga series?). Or a fragrance if she's close enough. :P

Diamond rings're priced prohibitively. >10k.

Whats plan B? :P
Rather than a gold ring I would suggest a really nice watch between 5-7k :P something like Fossil? I recently got my "special friend" :P a fossil watch and she loves it

Ty for the advice all :). The watch idea seems good...at least better than a plain gold ring which would only make me look like some desperate bhikari types..

Ya, fark my luck lol, wasted all my salary on that computer. But at least now I can play Arkham asylum and flashpoint, LOL

Ah the vices of indulging in virtual pleasure.. of gaming that is .. vs Real Life world.

Get her a watch .. maybe get a set and wear the pair when u two r going out.

Not to be confused with a public display of ur enslavery but just a possible suggestion .. :)

5-7K will get you a decent ring sans diamonds
Just head to the jewellery stalls they have in the likes of lifestyle and landmark (stalls of brands like Gili and the ilk)
You'll get light everyday wear rings in minimalistic designs the aforementioned "special" would appreciate far more than the ornate stuff you'll get in Tanishq (where you sud go when picking up sumthing for your mum)

true that ...gili is much more trendier ..., my experiences with gifting have all been bad , so nowadays i just give her the money :P

on the other hand ,congrats L33t :P

A Watch is a much better gift than a ring, givin the ring may lead the receiver to making assumptions.. And i'm guessing this the same girl you were seeking advice for previously :-)

Get a good titan watch or fast track depending on her personality..or you could get a watch AND some nice shades..

Or if the girl is really close to you nothing beats the fun and intimacy of shoppin for a gift with the one who's goin to receive it ;-)
And if you're really really really close, you could gift some lingerie :-) hopefully you know her taste :-)

I would suggest you to go for the ring for a very simple reason, its good investment. God forbid, If anything goes wrong i.e she doesn't accept your gift or she returns it to you after a break-up, you can always sell that gold/diamond ring and get your money's worth. But what are you gonna do with a used ladies watch? :P Think about it!

Lolz... price on love....

I am recommending a watch... gifting jewelery to girlfriend I am skeptical about.... :ashamed:

Pass it on to the next one. :P

I would stay away from a ring until I am going to propose. If thats what you want to do, then a ring would be great.

Otherwise go with a watch like others suggested and maybe a dinner cooked by you..

LOL, you remember that thread? :P been quiet a while now eh? Almost 1.5 years I think.

And well I think I'll go with the watch, not the lingerie..saax is a big no-no before marriage...

maybe a dinner cooked by you.

HAH, maggi and omlette is all I know.
