Cheap mobile just for internet (desktop) browsing.

Hi,

My dad wanted to surf the internet in his office. Nothing big, just emails and stuff.

I thought I would get him a cheap mobile that he could connect it to his computer and surf the internet (GPRS). Me thinks Rs. 100 / month for 2 gigs is quite reasonable.

Suggestions anyone?

Also, thinking of getting a GSM modem (will double up as an sms gateway)... anyone using it?

If you just need a device for browsing on PC, you can get 3G modem for around 2k. Future proof and less messy as compared to using a phone imo.

Standalone modem would be better , also it will power up from the USB port so no charging the mobile and all .

if u r thinking of going for a phone, make sure that its chargeable from the usb ports....rarely nokia phones supports this (m i right ??) !!
