^^i dont think that problem has anything to do with the mobo anyways.

Udit if you are plannning to get the conroe from abroad its okay. However if you are going to get it here then wait for sometime. Other cheaper and better motherboards might be available by the time conroe comes here.:)

p.s I'm assuming that you already have a working comp...:)

there will be better boards alright but i doubt anyone will be this cheap.

And plus he can keep using his DDR modules until he can decide to upgrade to DDR2 667 on this board.

If someone is not looking for exceptionla ocing board then this is a very nice board to have.

Its really good value for money board.

how about gaming performance?

also, aren't the cheapest conroe cpu>=18k

how is conroe at stability and heating?

Intel 'Conroe' pricing leaks out | Channel Register
pricing starts at 209$ so here it may be 12000 max at launch.

the main concern is the pricing of the motherboards. as already seen in prelimenary benchmarks conroe performs well with ddr2 667 so everyone except enthusiasts and ocers may not need the top end ram modules.

regarding stability and heating i guess its much cooler than prescotts and smithfields and processors were stable enough as they always are.

This might sound stupid but why would anyone wanna buy a MOBO for Conroe NOW?? The new MOBOs would be much better for near same prices won't they?? that is when they're released.... And yes Conroe performs well enough with DDR2-667 but when you're buying something that's supposed to last you atleast an year i don't think limiting urself to DDR2-667 is a gr8 idea...i mean ....INTEL's scale better with memory speed from whtever i've read so the newer chipset boards....supporting better speeds would be much better won't they?
And Udit if you come across a work from home job let me know too please...i could use the money as well:)

@ udit, why don't you get dual core opteron 165 instead and overclock it later when required.

conroe will probably expensive:

first availability, let us say that they are available at top places in second half of August or beginning of Sepetember, that isn't exactly very near, but isn't too far either.

next, let us take cpu price a min of 12k, let us take mobo price a min of 10k again,
now how much does ddr 2 667 1gb X 2 cost.
let us assume each module to be 7k, then this makes it 14k
total:36k for the lowest decent confirguration

if you go for a current amd then you can get
ram 2gb:9k
asus a8n e:5.5k
amd dual core opteron 165 or x2 3800/4200, now at stock does the conroe really beat this, I would say that they would be competitive, right?
if you overclock, don't exactly know, but will the conroe get more than 10% ahead at max?

so amd 64bit isn't that bad unless you are willing to wait 1.5-2months, performance will be more or less the same if you buy from India?

Unless you get from abroad, where it might still be worth it or are a really high budget person.

I would say that Conroe would beat it and beat it well...specially if its overclocked...and yea i think they'll be around 12000 at the very least...
a better way would be to get AM2 with some decent DDR2 RAM(invest more in the RAM then the processor and MOBO and upgrade to Conroe around September end when prices settle down a bit.

no am2 man, dd2 is expensive and so will am2 be, yet there is no performance diff, i mean not much, no point in am2

you guys have been comparing the best conroe cpu that too overclocked to an overclocked amd otperon 165, obviously opteron will win.
conroe 2.6ghz should compete amd fx 62 or higher

do you really think that a conroe for Rs.12000 will beat a Opteron 165 by a significant margin?

The problem with S939 now is you are basically closing your future options. Thats the only issue right now.

Intel CPUs are priced almost same that it costs in US at the moment and when it comes to mainstream CPUs they have very little premium over us price, 930 is available at just 1K premium over us pricing. You you can expect entry level Intel conroe at less than 12k.

DDR2 667 Corsair with D9 chips is priced at 12.5K for 2x1GB.

I am testing these modules and they are doing DDR2 820 @ 4-4-4-15 which fantastic and this is limit of my processor not allowing me to go more.

Last but not the least once you get conroe you can settle yourself on a platform that will last you until initial Quad core CPUs.

Same with AM2, if you invest in AM2 now you are assured that you can switch to K8L in future.

As far as the motherboard for conroe goes, the P965 based offerings are not going to be cheap. Rashi is all set to import Asus P5B dlx and its going to cost a bomb ;) Same with P5W DH dlx.

One of the most ocing intel board right now is Intel original D975XBX and its fast becoming favourite amongst overclockers due to it ability to clock well on CPU and also on memory front with several easy mods available for extreme overclockers and also ability to change default bootstrap by simple bios mod. ( this increases the overclocking range ).

And intel pricing of this board is fixed for next few month in india and it wont change soon.

Asroc 775Twins is still not available. i just called abacus on my way back to mumbai to as if its available and its still not. Will keep you guys updated on that.

Btw guys.. Just wanted to add The Asus P5WDH, with the Latest BIOS, is pretty rocking.

Stable at above 450 FSB....
Un-Sync'd Memory OC'ing...

That's what I said earlier, to wait for the ASUS boards to show up... the P5WDH will surely outperform the MSI and bad axe. Next board to watch out for is the Abit AW9D Max.

^^ It indeed will.Why ? cos its made specifically for Conroe.Asus has 975 offering in P5WD2-E .

Also the Abit offering of 975 is also gonna be good i guess. So these are the 2 boards to watch out for. Also DFI is there but then Intel Boards have always rocked on Asus.

is abit even available in India.
Do you think that these cpu will come before 2months in India?
