My suggestion, go for an active touchscreen as Eddy pointed out. A resistive (passive) is the one used on phones (exception iphone: it uses a capacitive touchscreen) and will not respond very effectively to long strokes besides u need to apply more pressure than you usually would while writing on a normal surface.
A resistive touchscreen also has the film on the top of the LCD spoiling the contrast and image quality ( you can see long horizontal lines running diagonally on your screen) on a large screen.
