Hi All,

I have been getting mixed opinions from friends on buying the winter wear.
Few of my friends have suggested to get a good jacket after reaching UK instead of carrying thick jackets from here which may look heavy but do not protect enough from the cold when compared to what we get there in UK.
They say the quality that we get here doesnt really help us stay warm there.

Please suggest if its a good idea to take minimal/basic protection from here and then buying a thermal wear after reaching there?

Also, if what i heard is not true, then where do I get the good quality (to be used in extreme conditions) winter wears in Hyderabad/Bangalore?

Please provide me a checklist on what to be carried and what not.

^in commercial Street blr, extreme end, there is a shop... I forgot the name of the shop. Still i use the same.. Of course 4 layers of dresses... Inner thermals, shirt, sweater and jacket.

1. Go to ANY woodland store, get a good 2 or so layer thick jacket. MORE THAN ENOUGH.
2. Get good gloves. Wool preferred
3. Get a good monkey cap. Thick one. To protect your ears
4. Get a very good scarf. For your neck.
5. Get a nice sweater. If it gets too cold for you. Shirt, Sweater, 2 layer jacket. DONE!!!
6. I would skip thermals. Not required if you go with the above. I suggest getting used to the cold rather than fighting the cold.
7. Lip balm.
8. Vaseline cream.
9. Woolen knee length socks. No crew cut variety.
10. DON'T CARRY THE MESH MATERIAL SPORTS SHOES. Snow will melt and your feet will freeze.
11. Get a nice boot or any shoe with rubber sole. DON'T BUY THE WOODLAND SHOE. BAD.
12. A Good set of medicines. Cough, Cold, Fever meds. Lots of menthol chews. Antibiotics etc.

Note: All the above tried and tested by me. Coldest weather endured: -26 degree Celsius in Colorado. I walked 1.8 miles on a 2 month period (Nov-Dec). And this is not the side walk walk.
I walked through trails... sleet..mud... new snow..old snow..etc.

Note2: Get these and come. Anything you don't like, you can buy new. :). You may think it bee too expensive, but 3 months, you will start buying. ;)

Note3: If you get nose bleed, don't fret. Its natural.
