Windows Chessbase..worth it?

Level I
Now I'm fully addicted to chess..and honestly, this is something I can play all day.
I'm an intermediate player at best, and the database present at chess.com is more than enough.
But I came across this program recently ( Chessbase 16) a very dated looking interface, but the database is HUGE and the software seems brilliant ( from what I've seen in YouTube) but certainly not cheap.
Anybody here using it? Did it actually help you with daily practice?
My wife is a good chess player and she learns from Lichess study ( theory and game studies)
But she's pretty advanced level player and can learn very quickly...I'm rather slow and an offline database seems logical.

I would say it is good if you have reached a high level. Sure, anyone can use it and learn, but there are many better sources that would be worth more to you at your current level. On that point, what is your current rating. As for the uses of Chessbase, you can check out Chessbase India youtube channel. They did a pretty detailed video on the software and maybe you can even purchase from them if they offer a better price.

Why I say, your money could be spent better elsewhere is because in the beginning stages, it is more important to learn the basics and get good at that instead of learning tricks and stuff. BTW, I am not a good player or anything. Just picked up watching Chess during the lockdown and now hooked to watching live streams and tournaments. Loved the Tata Steel Chess masters and I never knew I could watch Chess for hours, all thanks to the amazing commentary by Peter Leko on the Chess24 Youtube channel.

I'm not total noob, has been playing since childhood, crossed 1500 recently, Len is close to 2000...she was beating me consistently, but now I am winning a few...

Why say you hate chess?
I don't play any good myself, but I am loving watching it as a sport. Give it a try and you may like it as well. It is a sport that definitely needs good commentary because most people can't make out by themselves why did the player make that specific move. Thankfully there are many good commentators around like Peter Leko in this live broadcast on Youtube. I can understand how it might not be everyone's cup of tea. For me playing FIFA on PS2 was the gateway to enjoying Football as a sport. For chess, it was the numerous fun filled chess streams by comedian Samay Raina who was only playing for fun. Now I enjoy watching the much more serious, actual matches including Classical Chess where a match can go on for 6 hours and most end in a draw.

Checkout this video explaining everything there is to know about Chessbase software. Sure, it is about 15 and not 16, but most things would be same.
