how to choose a cabinet.

I have no idea abt it .. Does a cabinet come with SMPS(PSU) or should we buy it seperately..

I'm from chennai. So , I use 'deltapage.com' as my reference .. in this website which one specifies the cabinet and SMPS(PSU)

Please specify your current system configuration.

I'm planning to buy a new one

Collected few info from this website

Amd Athlon II X4 620

Gigabyte 785GMT-UD2H

Transend 2GB DDR3

Seagate/WD 320/500GB

LG DVD Writer

Will buy Saphire GPU 5670 after 1 or 2 months

What abt Zebronics Bizli(Comes with 500W SMPS).. is it good??

Lower end enclosures come bundled with an el-cheapo power supply. Such a power supply may be branded as a 450~600W unit but in reality, can hardly supply about 200W of power and there's no such thing as efficiency when it comes to such units.

^That power supply bundled with the Zebronics Bijli is one such unit. Stay away from such power supplies lest you want your new system to go conked after a brief period of usage!

A PSU is a safeguard investment for the rest of your components - buy a good and efficient power supply with the required power rating (or even higher to ensure your power supply lasts a couple of future upgrades!) to ensure that it will serve you in the long run and does not account for higher electricity bills.

First off, tell us your budget so that we may give you appropriate suggestions.

Thanks mate!!

My budget for mobo and proc is 8 to 10k

Monitor - 6 to 7k

RAM - should be DDR3 - I guess its 2.5k now

GPU - DX11 within 5.5k (but will get in april only)

HDD 320 or 500Gb either Seagate or WD - not sure which to buy I had seagate in my 2 other PCs with no problem - 2.5k

For cabi and PSU as u said go for good quality - I can afford upto 3k(provided it supports my GPU)

Have a DVD writer

Have Altec lansig 2.1 channel

^^ even for low price cabinets, you can shave off 400 bucks atleast if you decide not to take the bundled SMPS/PSU.

and What Gannu said is true. It's better to spend decent amount on getting a quality PSU.

Thanks for ur response mate..

Just a clarification, wont a 18.5 to 20 inch ranged monitor be enough for HD movies ..

And, how abt LG, samsung, Dell .. heard benq service or replacement are not that good in chennai .. is that true??

As i thought i shall spent 6 to 7 k in monitor and buy a AMD athlon X4 (Quad proc) for which u suggested X3 processor .. whether to go for X3 or X4..

thanks all ..

About the monitor size ,its your preference.Get 19" + Athlon II x4 620.Also you are willing to get a mid range card so you will not be able to max out games on Full HD.

IMO a 720p or a 1080p blu-ray rip does not make a vast difference on a 18.5~20 incher. You can make do with 720p rips. But if you opt for a 22incher and above the difference becomes notable. And this depends on how close you are seated while viewing the video.

Not sure of the second query - we have been hearing mixed responses about Dell's customer service - sometimes very good with replacements being better (a fellow TE member got a 22incher as a replacement for a 19incher and a 24incher as a replacement for the 22incher!).

Your requirements demand nothing more than a X3 processor. The X3 processor is fairly good for the intended applications you have mentioned. Any upgrade in the gfx card department and you're going to need a better power supply.

I think you can go for the zebronics breeze. I myself have been searching this cabby for a friend of mine.
