Not to put a dampener on things but here is an extract from a book I have published by Reader's Digest.

"Astronomy has helped to estimate the date of birth of Jesus Christ. According to St. Matthew's Gospel, Jesus was born during the reign in Herod the the Great. The Jewish historian Josephus who died in AD 100 did not record the year of Herod's death but he noted that the king died near Passover shortly after an eclipse of the Moon. Modern Astronomers have dated this eclipse to March 12th or 13th, 4 BC.

Passover that year fell on April 14th. If the Bible is accurate, this is the latest Jesus could have been born. With that in mind, astronomers looked for evidence of the bright star that guided the 3 wise men to the stable in Bethlehem.

They believe it was not a star at all but a conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn which produced an unusually bright light in the sky. Astronomers now know that this celestial event took place in late MArch or early April 7 BC. "

So, the true Christmas is in Late March or Early April :P

Anyway Merry Christmas to all. And a Happy New Year(at least this remains true :P)
