The Specs:
Processor : AMD Athlon64 X2 4200+ @ 2.2Ghz
Motherboard : Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2H
RAM : Transcend 1GB DDR2 667
HDD 1 : Seagate 500GB 7200.10 (Primary + OS)
HDD 2 & 3 : WD640 x 2 (RAID 1)
OS : WinXP SP3
PSU : Generic 350W
Pictures:
The interiors,
The chrome box, placed in the equipment rack
Now you'll understand why I went for the chrome finish
From the top,
The POS D-Link ADSL Modem and the Linksys WRT600N (Arguably the best WiFi router as of now, an incredible device!)
The connections layout, for the hardware whores
I don't really know what the total cost of this worked out to, but the electronics were imported from Newegg via KMD but this roughly cost me around 15k (Minus the Router and Modem).
The machines runs 24x7, consumes roughly 25W,
1. Handles all my downloads (HTTP/FTP/Torrents)
2. Shares the printer across the wired and wireless network
3. Plays HD on my TV
4. Is a music box for the audio setup
5. Is a backup for all my data.
And many thanks to KMD (For the parts), Naga (For helping me with the networking) and last but not the least Superczar (For the concept and inspiring me at every stage of this process).
