Chrome's crackdown on ad blockers

A few days ago, uBlock Origin was automatically removed from Chrome and can't be added again via the Chrome Web Store.

As a workaround, I'm using uBlock Origin Lite (UBOL) as of now, and it seems to work okay. Have you guys migrated to different extensions or browsers because of this? I feel comfortable with Chrome and don't feel like using another browser, but if UBOL gets taken down as well, I see no other options.

I will 100% change browsers if I can't use uBlock Origin on Chrome anymore. Ads have made the internet borderline unusable for me (this is why I don't browse internet on my phone all that much anymore) and uBlock is the only adblocker that makes it bearable.

I will wait for an alternative or a workaround, but yeah otherwise I'll def move to Firefox.

+1, very very tough to browse net via Android Handset, for emergency installed Brave in mobile, at least it not bombard with ads like Chrome.

Did you have it installed as an extension already and removed automatically? Mine still seems to be working. I won't dare remove it, not even by accident. Although, it does give me a warning that it may no longer be supported.

I had it installed for years, and then a few days ago, I got a notification like this which turned it off. I guess they're doing this in a phased manner and will probably remove it for all users in some time.

How do you guys evaluate browsers and judge whether one is good or bad? I'm just curious because my primary use cases are seamless browsing, extension support, and bookmarks. I assume most, if not all browsers would do this well. I've been using Cromite on my phone for a long time because of the built-in ad block and the UI being pretty much the same as Chrome. On PC, I only see myself changing browsers and adapting to something else if Chrome somehow kills all possible adblocking extensions in the foreseeable future, which doesn't seem unrealistic.
 
Switched to Firefox couple of years ago, never looked back. Chrome keeps hogging lot of ram in my PC and Android, this problem doesnt exist with FF though. Hoping this AdBlocker ban pushes more people towards firefox.

Common factors -
1. compatible across websites
2. timely security updates
3. support for ad-block extensions and should be bloatware-free

Personal factors -
4. should be able to run entirely in portable mode from RAMdisk
5. good customization and theming options

For me Firefox ticks all the boxes...

Simplicity, easy navigation across settings etc, tons of add-ons, flexibility with customization and lastly looks!

Chrome is for kids who want just a plain browser like a surf and forget crap! Experts will use anything other than it imo! If any die-hard chrome user got offended I cannot help as chrome simply sucks--extremely boring browser out there.

I have moved from Ungoogled Chromium to Librewolf. It comes with ublock by default. I still keep Chrome (+ uBlock Origin Lite) for any sites which break or don't work properly on Librewolf. On mobile, its Cromite.
