Now that the classifieds has been in use for over a month, everyone will have got used to the system and will hopefully have pointed inputs to give.

Please vote in this poll and pour in your specific suggestions in this thread on whether the current setup is better or the previous one in forum was better.

We have something in mind to give the best of both worlds but want to gather inputs from the users before we finalize the details. If you like something that is available anywhere else then please post that input too. Just tell us the features that you absolutely want.

So speak now or forever hold your peace.

Thanks

Voted for current classifieds. Here are my suggestions :

-Ability to edit the price once listed the item

-A thread should be created automatically whenever a classified is posted. Corresponding replies in thread should appear as public questions in classifieds

-Separate form for FS, WTB. After asking category, it gives general form for FS or WTB instead of that it should ask whether member interested in FS or WTB & then proceed.

-Classifieds is visible to Guests. Registered members atleast 30 days old & minimum 30 posts should be allowed access.

There should be diff. color markings for FS and WTB like other sites. So its easy to spot.

You can even add another sub category like, FT- for trade

FS should be in Green

WTB should be in Red

FT should be in Blue

Against current format of market sections, it should be comfortable as the old format like Previous members market forum threads.

Implement live chat just for member market sections only when the seller/poster is online.

In my opinion, the previous setup was better.classifieds like ads make t.e look like some selling site.all deals should be involved in the market forum.

I feel a market section with sub sections is the sweet spot;something like we have now.

Honestly and Frankly

I don't like the current system, the previous system was much better. Mainly because i can't me classified thread.

So my sale looses its exposure after a week or two, and for the remaining 2-3 weeks, i have to link my signature to that - NOT OK

Some Features in the classified, and my words:.

1. Look and user interface - OK, but not that necessary, can live without that.

2. Public discussion - NOT OK i prefer the older type

3. Price drop by PM - NOT OK, one must be allowed to edit ones post at any time

4. 1 month time limit - OK, but again, i don't like very necessary

5. Mandatory fields - OK LIKED.

I can't find any flaw with the older market system, rather then higher moderation (man-power), nothing is much different.

In one word, try to keep it like a forum, rather then some shopping site.

Just my 2 cents,

Peace

i would like old format instead of new one.

Old method give a change to discuss and clarify doubts in the thread ifself.

Good inputs. Let me tell you that what were are planning is in line with what most of you are expecting. I think it should make everyone happy as it brings together the best features from both worlds as far as possible.

Keep the inputs coming so that we can be sure that we are not missing something out.

Assuming there are daily bumps, everyone could bump their thread after you, and you trade will again go to page 2. What then?

Higher moderation for market? What is this, a shopping site?

I voted for old member market. Just introduce a template which has to be filled up and attaching two pictures without which the post can not be submitted. It is being implemented in the "other" forum.

I prefer that style.

One thing i have noticed with the new classifieds is that any clever guy can pull a fast one on uninformed/out of touch member( with respect to pricing, usability of the product). In the older market thread, senior members used to burn down such sale threads by just posting a single informative reply

Yeah we have planned exactly this.

Also instead of subforums we will have tags which need to be selected.

Will handle that, thats what each member has been doing, before this classified thing. And after bumping, the visibility of the market thread in the search is helpful.

If i am not wrong, once you did mention that, moving to the new classified system, reduces the number of reported post (consequently it increases moderation == higher man power )

Replied in bold

#Renegade, if you are really going to bring back the older system, then will market threads be visible during regular forum search ?

Fewer reported posts = less moderation.

Classifieds are already visible during regular forum search.

ya it does, but we have to check on the Classified tab.

Instead, according to me (also for me), it will be better, if it comes by default.

After-all every market thread is as part of the forum, so its a forum thread, and if come on clickinh "View New Content", it will be better

Even under the old member's market, posts from that section were never included in the main search.

I think a vast majority will agree its better to have the option.

^ But before the last major TE downtime, when i clicked on "Whats New", all the new threads were displayed

As has been already noted by someone earlier, the previous Member's Market allowed room for discussions and suggestions with regards to the proper pricing and product discussion which used to be quite helpful to both the buyer and the seller. Plus, in the new system, there is no way of knowing whether the product has been sold off or is still available except by contacting the seller directly. And there is ofcourse the issue of posts getting pushed way back due to new threads coming up. This system actually feels to me like I am browsing Quikr or OLX or something similar.

I therefore vote for the old system.

I have been unable to figure out to view classifieds in tapatalk... any suggestions?

I vote for old system as with older system it feels like I am dealing with a community and the new classified system is like any other website listing things for sale.
