Hi All

I noticed that once a topic is considered closed by the mod and/or the person who started the thread is closed. I think that thread should only be closed when something objectionable is there. Not objectionable to the mods/thread orignator but to the rules.

Like for example there is a rule once you have sold the item close the thread. I know proabably once an item has been sold no body would use it anyways. But then again if no one would use it why not let the thread go back in history.

There are times when people wish to add something to the orignal post. Then if the thread is locked you need to link that locked thread to your new thread . It's not that much fun either reading such interlinked posts.

Secondly one more thing. I happened to read showing mod power thread. I think that such threads should not be locked as they give you insight into what people want. Like for example TE does not allow linking to some class of sites probably because people may visit the site mentioned(advt.). But think it this way if people want to put their favs. on their signature and by not allowing them we turning away our members.

I don't think that allowing posting links of other sites would be bad for us. I would also suggest that why not have a public poll should this (or any such topic) be allowed or not.

Was just checking out what RSS is. On my Opera TE's feeds(if that is what its call). Noticed this thread. http://www.techenclave.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4640

Now this also seems to be a bit irrational. We do not allow other forum links and we ourselves want our's to be there. I think that we should allow links to other sites as well. My thinking is people enjoy more they are free from rules. If people enjoy people would also promote something they enjoy.

My 4 cents. Being generous. :)

If you think a thread needs to be re-opened then simply ask one of the mods or admins to do so. But specify a reason for it. Secondly since this is a tech site info gets old over time. How would some1 like if a thread about a 4 year old game popped up among the new posts. This is std practise among most tech forums to lock old topics. As for your other suggestions, thank you very much and keep them flowing. :)

Hi BR

Well exactly if I want a four year old game. I would have to tell everyone that what the game was like, genre etc. Rather than that I could simply post in that thread so that people know exactly what I am looking for.
