COD4 and Ping

I have been playing (and loving) COD4 online for a week - 10 days or so. Usually my ping is in the 300 - 350 range. The lowest I have been able to connect is 200. From what I read on the internet, this is pretty bad, as one's ping should be less than 100. (I have 512kbps UL Airtel btw).

Whenever I die and I see the killcam, it seems that the last second or so of what I did doesn't 'register' - as in, I may have got a couple of shots on the guy who killed me, but in the killcam it's as if I am sitting there like an @**hole waiting to get shot without doing anything.

Is this a peculiarity of Killcam 'replays' or is it really my high ping putting me at a disadvantage?

It's the ping. The reason your last few shots before you died seem to have done nothing is because you were already dead at that time, you simply became aware of the fact about 300ms later.

Sick. So there's nothing I can do about it, right? Can Airtel somehow tinker with my connection to lower my ping, or can they not do that without fundamentally overhauling the way they have their technology setup? Are other ISPs better with regards to ping?

which servers are u playing on ? if its non indian servers then forget it u require a good 3mbps line .....say like reliance connection they have a good pings 512 wont do any good on abroad servers.

This is weird, because it doesn't happen to me on the PS3. The only delay I get is when reloading (a very slightly longer pause than offline play), otherwise, the game runs online exactly the way it runs offline. I'm on airtel if it matters, but on Warhawk I get terrible pings to UK/US, I play on only Japanese and Aussie servers, where I get less than 200.
