frm last 2 days when i keep my comp on nights and check in morning..it has been restarted..........i know 1-2 s/w which is causing this errors...one is flashget and other is limewire...i guess....but after restart how do i check wht has caused this prob........can we check it via???system information?????
also can we change the bios chip of the mobo to some other one...i have one asus a8ne board spare..it has probs with its bios..........can i change it...or i need to reprogram it????

I presume you are using Windows Xp. Have you disabled Automatically restart ? If the computer restarts because of a fatal error, you will get the BSOD:( with an error msg that might help to narrow down to the source of the problem.

goto control panel/admin tools/event viewer/system - check for all the entries marked in red, you can also check event viewer/application for any error's caused by applications.

No leave the bios chip alone, just update your bios to the latest version by flashing it either thru' auto update if your asus supports it or thru' manual flashing. check the asus website.

disabling automatic update makes the screen going dead...but fan keeps working as if i have turned off the screen....so again i had to manually restart.........
dip.......where is admin tools options??????

edit::got the admin tools...it comes under classic view of control panel......but now wht to do......either there r warning

windows media center sp2 ..i guess its proff...i got the option it comes under classic view....but after checking the logs i c errors and warnings wht else can i do....

check the one's with red color, double click on them you would get event id's and a option to connect to microsoft to find out more about the error, do that.

Look for error's in both EV/system and EV/application. you already told it might have to do something with limewire.

thks did tried...comp again restarted........today morning........i cheked the log...found nuthin suspicious................
i guess again the hardware is getting hard on me...i guess

This is because of the no of TCP connections(10) limit imposed on XP, so when your torrent client tries to connect/create more than 10 TCP connections it causes the error.

But this cannot restart your system, see the application EV too, look for anything marked in red color, those are critical.

Also post a thumbnail not the whole image ;)

well sorry abt image posting...........

also there r no eror stuff in application sections............

now i want to know...can ups cause restart????????

its 4 yrs old.....some punca model.......

i doubt less abt smps...since i got it last year...colorsit one 450 watts...somone posted its details also here way bak...........

If thats the case then magnet can use the sp2 tcp connection patch.

Ups, dont think so, must be any of the appications you leave on - in the night, like torrrents or limewire etc.

Update your applications to the latest versions and see it helps. or check the log files of the specific applications you doubt.

@blade, yep - thought about that but computer wont restart because of that so must be something else. and i dont want him to go thru' meddling with originals yet ;)

It's not because of your system it is because of poorly written code of the application, narrow down the application causing the error, update it, if you still get the error, time to move onto another program.

Restart wont be limited to your pc, but would be the same for everyone having same config.

well this peice of shit continues..suddenly i was reading an article which i found after

alot of search comp restarts....damn...........

now somj xtra stuff which i did in past 3-4 days....
wht i do is i keep my comp on whole night say ard 6-8hours for downloads...then in morning

as net get disconnected i switch it off.......
..now in the mean time atlest i download minimum 250mb......
now when i again restart my comp...either it works fine or again atlest 1 restart it

does....i thght it to b h/w issue....process heat issue....i jus went in the bios and as i

was jus checking the settings again it restarted all of a suden......

i thght since it happen while i was in bios...it probably is h/w issue..which is always

cmmon in my case......the things i doubt is my ups now...since it has completed ard 4+yrs

and i havent changed the battery.....might b causing some power loss to smps.......soon will

go with apc one...how is powercom...and r there any support issues with it...its 2nd best

after apc read it here...but its site is lot confusin.....also if somone has the price

abt its model which is ard 800va...and comes with usb to cabinet which shut downs comp on

ac loss..then plz post....

i dont doubt abt smps as i changed it last yar.......with 450w colosrsit one.........

also my frnd had a prob in which case his comp used to freezed on start.........he had

some heatsink prob..it was working...but when he changed it his comp never gav

probs.......(wht prob he was facing)????
presently i want to know wht r the hardware tools i must get in order to check the smps and

system settings manually and how much they cost...also if any mumbai guy can help frm where

to get this stuff it is highly apprcialble.......

the s/w issue prob can b there...but i uninstalled all programs i suspected and still it

restarted.........i formated the disc and it continued......
also can this b becoz of cheap cabinet o wht....i still use biis cheap cabinet....i might

changed it with some decent one soon after seraching te dtails in coming days....

I dont think it is an issue with a cheap cabinet or so.

Check if the SMPS is an issue here. Try getting a SMPS from a friend and running the machine on it if you dont have the hardware to check the SMPS.

Before all that, have you removed Automatic restart on error option of Windows XP? Seeing the BSOD can help here in finding the source of the error here..

how to check bsod????
and btw when i removed the automatic restart option.......... the moniter switches off.......automatically....but all the fans r working..i can hear the sound........
..so i had to manually reset.....

When you uncheck automatic restart option, the next an error occurs, the system instead of restarting shows a Blue Screen with error (Also called BSOD or Blue Screen of Death).

The error message displayed on the BSOD helps in a way to pinpoint the trouble.. Like if it is a paging error, chances are highly likely that it's a defective RAM module. That was just an eg..

Right click on My Computer, select Properties and then the Advanced tab. Click on Settings under 'Startup and Recovery' and then uncheck 'Automatically restart'. Next time your PC tries to restart you see a Blue Screen [with a stop or error message which you can use to research your problem.]
