I'm looking for some compact 2.1 Speaker system under 15k for my laptop. I need a compact one as I do not have much space on the desk, so those large sub-woofer ones are out of context. I'll be watching movies, shows and documentaries occasionally. Don't need it much for anything else.

I've narrowed down to Harmon Kardon Soundsticks III. I've reviewed and they felt delightful. Any other alternatives that I should consider ?
Also, there's a Yamaha YAS-101 Soundbar, that I was considering earlier but its around 20k, is it worth it ?

How about Boss Companion 5 for 14k ? I'm getting a slightly used with warranty.
How's this deal?

deal is good. but i prefer not to buy multimedia speaker @ 2nd hand even if it is Bose. bookshelf/audiophile grade speaker is another thing.
I would rather go with Klipsh Pro Media/HK Soundsticks/even SWANS with budget of 15k.

Movies & Gaming : - Corsair SP2500 - 232watt RMS - 8" woofer (Closed)

Music : Klipsch Promedia 2.1 THX model - 200 watt RMS - 6.5" woofer (Normal)

Recently (Last month) got the Klipsch Promedia THX (as my main requirement music), mind blowing sound/experience . Upgrade from FD A520 - Huge improvement.

For movies I prefer 5.1 system.....I use Creative Sound Blaster X-fi Surround 5.1 pro USB (DAC) + Logitech X540 (70 watts RMS)

Though Creative Sound Blaster X-fi Surround 5.1 pro need windows to function, So laptop must be equipped with windows.

I got the Bose Companion 5 in nearly half the retail price. Not the very compact speaker I was looking for, but surprisingly, the subwoofer unit was able to fit in the desk.

I got from a guy who wanted to sell it off to buy Bose's higher end Home theater systems. So I got it for 14 within half year warranty. While it sells for 28+ in Bose outlet at the moment. I would not go into over-analyzing of what the sound is like on the speakers. But they sound clean with crisp bass and are room filling. Loud explosions are really loud explosions, Ferrari's engine's growl sounds real and a dialogue in the midst of that is just as clear. I've been using them for mostly Movies, Documentaries and YouTube videos and have listened to very little of music, but it performs quite well. Also, it has a built-in sound card which negates the sound card installed in your computer. For some, it is a con who have invested into expensive cards. For others like me, its is a pro. Another thing is that it is advertised as a 5.1 speaker set while the set up is actually 2.1. But it does pack in a good level of surround sound experience, if you position the speakers properly as mentioned in the Bose guidebook.

Buddy i have F&D A520 but using it with in built sound card. Was thinking of buying a sound card but then read your post on Creative Sound Blaster X-fi Surround 5.1 pro.
Can you tell me how usefull it can be in movies and music.

He asked for 2.1 systems and the A2's are great but they lack the punch the other listed options can provide.
