Compact camera recommendations

Tried posting in the Photography thread but not a lot of activity there.

I am interested in buying a compact camera, micro four-thirds looks good. Not looking to buy fixed lens ones (so no point-and-shoots). Would you recommend the Lumix GM1 or GM5? They look really compact and none of the current Panasonic or Olympus cameras are as small.

go for a used gx85 compact with 5 axis image stabilisation, have been using it along with affordable lenses
How's the AF and EVF quality? Also, any recommendations on where to buy used cameras online? I will be exploring some brick and mortar shops in Bangalore but would also like to know if there are any good online options.

jjmehta forums, while a bit of an archaic design, classifieds are still quite frequented imo. I assume you have experience with cameras before.

There was also an Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV camera that was being sold on croma at like 35k for like 3 months, someone posted it on croma retail deals. Incredible deal tbh. I think the rest of the members were more interested in the mark 3 that was being sold with like a 200mm lens that by itself would retail for 40k.
I was saving up for the mark 4 but either someone else got it before me or croma fixed the price.

Many thanks for this recco. Looks like a good resource.

Amazing deal really. Sad to have missed it.

Came with the kit lens as well :(

Anyways, tell us what you buy in the end, I personally haven't looked anymore into this hobby once the costs started going beyond half a lakh.

Would you recommend the Lumix GM1 or GM5?

Both the GM1 and GM5 have become highly desirable in recent years despite being so old. Cameras of that era are fun toys, but sensor technology has improved so markedly that I'd recommend something newer.

The Sony a6100 is available new but is deeper than either the GM5 or GX85. It also weighs about the same as the GX85. Another option would be the Fujifilm X-T200.

DPReview lets you do a side by side comparison of specifications:

Numbers don't always tell the entire story so I'd also recommend going to a physical store like Reliance Digital or Croma and trying out the models they have on display.

It's also a good idea to see what lenses would fit in with what you have mind, there are AF pancake lenses for three systems but availability and pricing differs greatly.

Many thanks for the link to the comparison. The GX85 does look good and was recommended by an earlier comment.

I am primarily looking at M43s because of their compact lenses. No idea if I will actually carry a bunch of lenses around but seems like a good idea to buy the more compact format.
