Graphic Cards COmpare and contrast : TR vs. TT

TT writers, esp Mr. Lodaya, need a technical writing class;the language and grammar of their articles is unacceptable even for a paper written by a college junior. Why TT has such a lousy team is beyond me.

And to think they are doing every review on that Vantec ION 460W PSU. Many wouldnt recommend it for running a single 1900XTX and these people ran a 1950XTX CF setup and a 7950GX2 Quad SLI on it. :dizzy: pretty scary.

:) :) At the risk of sounding a noob Lord a few things

1. Companies would always want to promote a product. Particularly in the case of power supplies there is a lot of hype. Not that I am advocating a 460 watt ps for quad sli. However u don't either need a 1000 watt supply too!:)

2. Yesterday I was reading an article in xbit labs. It seems that quad sli is still not mature enough. Barring a few games in some specific resolutions there is not much overall improvement.
X-bit labs - Articles - Second Round for Nvidia Quad SLI: Technology Matured?

3. :bleh: Of course the techtree guys has atrocious english and i have no doubts on that.

One thing I did like about the TT review is that the author atleast made a conscious effort to match image quality across both the platforms. There's still a long way to go in the analysis department, but looking bad at how poorly TT reviewed video cards in the past, there's definitely been some improvement. The fact is that Quad SLI doesnt work... (However much arun_rulez may brag about it :D) An SLI'ed pair of 7900GTX cards is faster than a pair of 7950 cards in everything but Prey, FEAR and Titan Quest.

Agreed on that point. :) A 1000W PSU is definitely a overkill. But still would you use a 460W PSU for running a 1950XTX crossfire when you know that they are so power hungy. In fact the cards performace itself would have been affected if the PSU is not able to cope with the power requirements of the cards and defeats the entire purpose of the review.

A 1000W is definitely not required, but at least they could have used a good 600/650W PSU if just for the sake of removing any extranous factors affecting the performace of the cards. To me using that 460W PSU is just like reviewing the cards on a machine with a 500MHz Celeron or with only 128MB RAM. :hap5:
