I wanna start repairing GPUs as a side hobby and see how feasible is it in India but I can't source anything here. Resistors, Capacitors, memory modules are not available and I need to have lots of dead donor boards to replace parts. If anyone here repairs stuff please shed some light on how to source parts.
 
There are several stores in Nehru place that sell books of replacement SMDs. It's just that you won't get 1 or 2 pieces and it is not viable to ship small quantities.
 
Join northwestrepair discord channel. He has schematics and boardview for gpus. And maybe the users there can help your query.
I also wanted to try laptop pc repair. But living in the remotest part of India without any friends in big markets makes it hard to get parts.
 
I would practice on mobile boards first before gpu. Try removing the cpu, reball, then install again. That skill will translate to gpu repair. Or not!
Please work only on completely dead non fixable boards first whether mobile board or gpu! Or till your hand skill doesn't burn or blow up stuff.

Isn't it harder on mobiles though?
 
Yes. It's hard. But not that hard. Practise is key. Being able to make jumper on ripped cpu pads on mobile will come in handy. I guess the closest similarity between a mobile and gpu is the ram chip.
Some gpus even have paste in ram chips like mobile cpu paste. I saw one video of it.
