Hi friends i would like to purchase a new TV for my home currently we are using 21inch CRT TV by toshiba.

My local vendor tell me that they can give toshiba lcd HD tv 32 inch for 17k with 3 yrs warranty.

I like that offer but i have confusion do i really want to go for that bcoz I am from kereala AFAIK

no one is providing a good HD contents except some stupid serials and all.

So my question is should i go for 32 inch Toshiba LCD TV for 17k or go for some FULLHD 24 inch LED monitor with 3D bcoz i can't find any 32 inch monitor

i found

AOC E2440VA 24- Inch LED ultra-slim Monitor + 3yrs (Genuine Tax Bill & Warranty)

on ebay only for 10947/- should i go to for that or to FULL HD TV

That should not be a problem, SD channel should look ok on HD TV. Its Full HD where you'll notice issues more frequently. I assume your viewing distance is more than 6-7 fts; in which case you will not notice any difference. You can ask the dealer to play some data on the TV and verify yourself; make sure you watch it from the some distance.(same as in your home)

Now the thing is that a TV can not be used as a monitor, 32 inch is just too big. I have one and though I do connect it to watch movies from PC; I never was able to work on that. So if your objective includes using it as a PC monitor; I will vote against a TV. though let me say it again; you should not observe any major difference watching SD on HD; from a certain distance. Thank you but my question was can i use the Computer monitor as tv without CPU and all.

So my actual question was should i go for TOSHIBA 32'' HD TV or AOC E2440VA 24- Inch LED ultra-slim Monitor

where TV priced at 17k while monitor price around 12k

two things which I can think of,

1)

It depends on what source you use and what port it supports. For example if it can take HDMI, than you can get a HD set top box and hook it with HDMI.

Normal set top box with SD output will not work straight away (I am not sure of any hack as well)

DVD players, which does analog output will also not work here as well.

2)

you can buy a TV Tuner card; when I recently checked with a dealer; he told me that these card can show TV using a normal set top box. But still verify it before you buy anything.

Now decide carefully, (What monitor are you using currently; why not continue using that, all you mentioned in your post is what TV you guys are using)
