pretty much agree with *MAC* here, just because one or two products of the company don't come up promising doesn't mean u behold the whole comany's prodcut line. & its better to keep such personal & immature views to urself only. altecs are one of the best engineered prodcuts otherwise. If only u knew JBL evolved from altec only.

i was keen to take altec 251 5.1 after reading users recommendations here
and i heard altec speakers and really dint impress me at all .. full muddy bass is the problem ..
creative is better in sound production .. but creative also has muddy bass when u keep bass over 50 - 60%
You guys should hear other company hig end models then you will realise how crap altec is ..
and frontech eventhough company sux .. but their speakers are good
come to truth rather than fooling people.. just saying big brand names wont help .:tongue:

instead get 667Mhz at about the same cost

Have you ever heard MX5021, though its 2.1 but will beat your all high end models of Frontech hands down in terms of sound reproduction and ofcourse in Bass too:bleh: .

But to what I have seen with speakers, these companies have had total shit packed. So i base my opinion on that. It may be diff. now but still I'd like to save my money for a better branded sound system rather than these companies.

the main aim of getting 5.1 speakers is to get good bass and it sux there .The sound quality thru satellites is good and better than any cheap brand like mercury,frontech .. but the main thing is its bass is horrible .. the beats arent lively .. its not my personal opinion .. its the truth ..
may be MX5021 is a good worth listening product from altec ..but im not interested in those 2.1 .And altec have no plans to expand their 5.1 category of speakers eventhough they are a giant company thruout the world.
I dont care for altec nor frontech .. i care for reality

IMO Digit Forum reviews are crap.
and actually every 5.1 setup requires a little bit of tweak in the settings to get best sound out of if
(he also mentioned the same), like positioning the satelites and the sub.

Get the original 251 if its available or stick with your current set.
Also all multi speaker systems will need some tuning to make them sound to your liking. So you should spend some time on that.
