Adept
Hey there folks

A Couple of my friends were interested in starting a Games/Internet Cafe. Would like to have the suggestions of all the great minds here. :)

The Needs.....

1. There is going to be 10 systems so the cost need to be acceptable
2. The games that are going to be played would be GTA-VC,NFS MW, CS
3. The upgradation time should be not less than atleast 2 years
4. Need to be reasonably fast and perform well
5. It has to be an intel based system, separate gfx is a must.
Also if anyone could define how to share a BSNL 2MbPS line to all the 10 systems a lil detailed i would be grateful. cuz i have no idea how to do this.

Thank you

No specific budget?

A simple but a decent browsing-cum-gaming rig:

Intel E5200 - ~3.6k
Gigabyte G31-S2L - ~2.35k
Transcend 2GB RAM - 1.1k
320GB HDD WD/Seagate - ~2k
DVD burner Samsung S223F - ~1.1k
Generic cabinet - <1k
Powersafe Silver 500W PSU - ~1.6k
Logitech Mouse/Keyboard combo - .8k
Dell 19" 1909W - ~7.5k

Not sure if a 19incher LCD is really required but the overall cost comes to roughly 20k per system. And since there're 10 systems going to be invested in, these prices should hold true. Send a quotation to Dell and find out the rates for the 17incher S1709 LCD as well. Should be pretty cheap these days. U can cut down on the overall investment if it has to be 17 inchers.

Would easily last 2 yrs for light-moderate gaming. Should the need arise, the CPU/GPU can be overclocked. Just in case. :p

Someone pl shed light on the net-connection part. I've no clue on that.

add HD4670 or 9600GT to that.. these cost in 5.2-5.6k range.....as u dnt wanna upgrade for 2yrs...

apart from gta vc, nfs mw n cs...i thnk ppl will want fifa, dota, warcraft etc too...

so those cards shall keep u n gamers satisfied..

the rest of the rig as suggested by gunman...although u may wanna go for powersafe Gold 500W incase u wanna get a gpu.

What's the efficency of the Powersafe Gold 500W?? Since the systems in the would be running for long periods of time, its better to get a SMPS with 80%+ Efficiency.. Though it will cost a bit more initally, it will pay back in terms of lower power bills in the future..

@ganu, the budget is limited to 19k the lesser the better. I was thinking of getting a E2180, and GFX to be 9400GT (or) HD4350, since the games are gonna be very limited due to the locality of the center.(meaning highend games wont be in demand)

This is what i have in mind guys tell me wat and wat no to use.

E2180 ~ 3100

Gigabyte G31-S2L - 2.35

1GB DDR2 - 750

xfx 9400GT - 2800

160GB - 1.8

16" Samsung - 5.5

Generic Cabby - <1

VIP Silver 400W - 1.2

Generic Headset - .25

Logitec Mouse/Keyboard - .8

Ur friend seems to be pretty much skimpy on the budget. Unless u tell us the overall budget or budget-per-pc, this's going to be hard.

If its only going to be CS, NFS: MW and the likes, u're better off with the system u've mentioned but keep the 4350 and 2GB RAM. Serves in the long run. The PSU seems to be quite ok if not good.

And if u've noticed already, there's hardly a difference in a couple of hundreds b/w the specs I've mentioned and the one u've quoted. Final take's urs though. ;)

9400GT and 4350 are not good even for old games , if u want cheap card then get 8600GT 512Mb DDR3 , and E5200 with gigabyte G31 .

The budget would be 19k per machine, and since he is doing it out of his pocket money he wants to keep it simple and effective. since the customers are going to be kids from 10-15 they play simple games so a very high end rig isnt called for.

@robo even to be used with a 16" monitor it aint enough?

@gannu , 4350 better than 9400GT mate?

i wud rather suggest a slower processor as no one wants faster Winrar performance nor wants to play the latest CPU games like GTA IV..
Save on CPU, Invest on GPU... Get 8600GT ddr3 or 9500GT/9600GSO or smthing

Gfx is a must as ppl luv to play old games at gud resolution & gud quality (=better customers for more time, n no lag wen having tourneys for long hours.)

A notch better. :p

But in fact the 4350 is more suited for an HTPC build. Both of them dont require extra power connectors either. U may want to get a better card like the 9500GT just in case u foresee more and better customers turning up. :)
