Configuration for new general Purpose Home Machine Request

Disciple
I was considering the following configuration for my PC:
Is that good for buying?

Processor AMD Athlon II X2 250(3Ghz, 2 cores, 2MB Cache)
Motherboard Asus M4A78LT-M LE
RAM Corsair 2GB DDRIII 1333MHz VS2GB1333D3 G
HDD 500GB Seagate 7200.12
GPU Presently onboard. Iâ€ll buy discreet aftersix months if needed ( it would be around Rs. 5-6 k then)

Monitor Acer 225 HQL ( confused for big size. i"ll not buy it if that is not suitable for this configuration and would like to prefer Dell 1920IN then)

Cabinet iball normal cabinet with 450 watt PSU
Key Board & mouse combo Logitech USB Mouse + USB MMKB
ODD L.G./Samung/ Sony OEM SATA DVD-Writer
speakers are already present.

NOTE:

Asus M4A78LT-M LE no longer available at c2c delhi... he insisted to purchase a asus m4n68 one at the same price of 2730. so i haven't purchase it

my questions are:

> any other shop at nehru palace, new delhi selling this motherboard (Asus M4A78LT-M LE)?
> is it better to buy from computer empire selling proccy mother board (Asus M4A78LT-M LE) combo Rs. 250 more than costtocost listed price. I think he is taking benifit from the fact that c2c lacks Asus M4A78LT-M LE.
> please suggest a better substitute. I can spend around Rs. 3500 on MB. with processor together around Rs. 6500 ( max)+ 5% on combo.
presently i am considering amd athlon ii x2 250 as combo with it.

My usage:

playing normal games want to play crysis after 6 month with a discreet gpu card purchase.
watching movies of 720p and 1080p resolution.

Try getting prices of some 785G/880G mobos and post here. Then based on availability and pricing we will be able to recommend u some :)

AFAIK u can get a AthlonII X2 250 for 2.7k and MSI 880GM-E41/Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H for 4.1k (Both VAT inclusive prices. So 6.8k Vat inclusive)

thanks darkangle:

Rates are:

processor:

Athlon II X3 440 @ Rs. 3300

AthlonII X2 250 @ Rs. 2700

phenomII x2 550 @ Rs. 4000

phenomII x2 555 @ Rs. 4250

M/B:

Asus M4N68T-M @ Rs. 2700

MSI 785 DDR3 E 45 @ Rs. 3560

MSI 880 GMA @ Rs. 4400

The combo price for (Asus M4A78LT-M LE + Athlon II X3 440) = Rs. 6250.

my requirement are:

1. full HD movies.

2. games upto crysis and dirt after attaching an amd external gpu ( not needed now i"ll add it later)

3. a sturdy build work for at least 3 years.
will the iball 450 watt psu is enough at this time?

i want to get the best bang out of bucks on this PC and don't want to regret for any extra expense.

Also please check the following thread to settle an another monitor confusion.

and rest the other requirements as mentioned earlier.

I will buy it from nehru palace new delhi.

I am not interested in any kind of unlocking or overclocking. just want to buy a descent PC around 18k with 2 gb ddr3 and 500 gb hdd. which could at least stand for 3-5 years decently without any need of kicking.

The Asus 78L board sells for ~2.75k. So the combo price is high. I would recommend the AthlonII X3 440 with the MSI 785G DDR3 mobo.785G plays HD movies well.

For now iball PSU will suffice. But get a decent PSU now itself if your budget permits. PSU upgrade is compulsory with GPU upgrade.

Is MSI or gigabyte m/b really a better choice?

Could the following will do the job of playing full HD movies and some games at descent level (like crysis at acceptable resolution)

AthlonII X2 250 @ Rs. 2700GIGABYTE 740 (DDR-3) at Rs. 2350 + RAM Corsair 2GB DDRIII 1333MHz@ Rs. 1050 + XFX 5450 1GB DDR3 @ Rs. 2350 together with iball cabinet +PSU (400-450 watt) @ Rs. 1200

IMO Giga > MSI. But it must also fit in your budget right :) Any pricing and availability for Gigabyte mobos?

what about this?

AthlonII X2 250 @ Rs. 2700 / x3 440 @ Rs. 3300

&

Asus M4A78LT-M LE @ Rs. 2700 (is it a great buy still?)

MSI 785 GM –E41-3400 RS [MSI is doubtfull for performance :( ]

Gigabyte MA74GMT-S2 -2350 RS

upto how long will a iball power supply will support the graphics card (eg. 54XX, 56XX or 57XX).

Get the Athlon IIx3 440 atleast cause for ~ 500/- you are getting an extra core and the more cores better it is in general parley now-a-days.

Nxt if you are going to buy a MSI board go for atleast the MSI 785G E 53/ E56 or in other motherboards the ASUS M4A78LT-M is good OR Gigabyte GA 785GM UD2H <don't go for US2H as it has DDR II support + old SB chipset + electrolytic capacitors>, following are reviews

MSI 785GM-E65 Motherboard Review :: Introduction :: Motherboards.org -- MSI review

GIGABYTE MA785GMT-UD2H Motherboard Review :: Introduction :: Motherboards.org -- Gigabyte review

--> personally for ASUS board on 785 chipset the best is M4A785TD V-EVO and M4A785TD M-EVO, but ASUS has bad A.S.S record in India.

ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO and M4A785TD-M EVO AM3 Motherboards Review -- ASUS M4A785TD V-EVO and M4A785TD M-EVO review, hope this helps.

Get a better PSU right now instead of compromising your graphics budget later ~ Seasonic S12D 430W ~ 2.5K

please also suggest some power supply that would do fine if i purchase amd 5770 gpu after 6 months.

please suggest that PSU only which is economic and will just do the job fine.keeping this config in mind. I don't have any big budget thinking of getting PSU+cabinet around Rs. 2000.

AMD x3 440+ asus m4a78lt-m-le + 2*2gb ddr3 ram + dvd writer + 2 sata hdd's

No one here wud advice u to use an HD5770 on a Rs. 500 or so PSU... For HD5770 u will have to buy atleast a good quality PSU like FSP Saga II 400w...

then how much minimum budget should i consider for a PSU that will just do the job? any brand or model? please suggest i wanna final PSU too at this time.

FSP Saga II 400w ~ Rs 1900 (2 Yrs Warranty)

if u can spend a bit more then buy Seasonic S12II 430w ~ 2600 (3 Years Warranty)

Buy a single stick 4GB RAM. That mobo got only 2 RAM slots. So if u get 2*2GB then it will be difficult to upgrade in the future.

Didnt we mention thats the normal price for that mobo. Then whats the doubt in getting it for 2.7k

MSI mobos arent bad. They have good build.

Dont risk your GPU with a lousy power supply and then end up with a burnt 8k GPU so that you can save 1k earlier :p

As Hades suggest go for the FSP SAGAII 400w. That should be enough up to HD57xx series GPU's or Nvidia GTS450.

Though spending a little more for CX400/ Seasonic S12II 430 gives you a official 80%+ certified PSU's and also 3 yrs warranty :) But then decide upon budget. For your config. the minimum PSU that i would recommend is FSP SAGAII 400w.

One of the forums' senior member would put it like this 'If one doesn't want to get a good PSU then he doesn't deserve a GPU'

thanks darky, hades, alpha17 . i bought the following:

Athlon II X3 440 @ Rs. 3350

Asus M4A78LT-M LE @ Rs. 2750

RAM Corsair 2GB DDRIII 1333MHz@ Rs. 1050

Sony DVD RW @ Rs. 950

iball webcam 8.0 MP @ Rs. 740

iball cabinet 8181+ psu included @ Rs. 1300

HDD 500GB Seagate 7200.12 (already having)
