Guys i have been assigned a tight budget of 20K (can pull and extend to 23k max) to assemble a PC. I was looking forward to one of 33k but now will get a laptop after 4 years so no point in upgrading too much. please suggest. i am a casual gamer and i game at 1440x900 and like to keep everything maxed out.

here is what i was thinking of

Athlon II X2 240-3k
GIGABYTE GA-MA785GMT-UD2H - 3.5k
GTX 260 Core 216-11k
Corsair VX 450-1.2k
Cm310 -1.5k
2GB DDR2 RAM-2k

Will use my old 160GB HDD and LG DVD RW.
Is this good? And will exchange old motherboard, processor and cabinet at the local shop where i buy from for around 2k.

Plus i have a 4670 which i intend to keep for later use.
Please reply fast i will be assembling within 1 or 2 days.
Thanks in advance.

PS : not looking forward to DX11 so no no to ATI .

.

In which part of this earth you are getting a corsair vx450 for 1.2k mate :S ???

You must be seriously joking .

Corsair VX 450 - 4.1k

Casual gamers don't buy GTX 260 for casual gaming

Processor: AMD Phenom II X2 550 - 5.2k / Athlon II X4 620 - 5.3k

Mobo : MSI 785GM-E51 -4.6k

RAM: Transcend 2GB DDR3 1333MHz - 2.6k

GPU: Palit/Powercolor ATI 4850 512mb - 6.5k

Cabinet: CM Elite 310 - 1.5k

SMPS: Corsair CX 400 - 3k

Total - 23k

P.S. - Note Phenom II 550 will be a better buy because it has L3 cache which will give a performance boost in fps when compared to Athlon II x4 620

http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=3638&p=8

Phenom II x2 550 beats Athlon II x4 620 in every game for more or less 20fps . Its due to L3 cache.

Moreover Phenom II x2 550 can be unlocked to Phenom II x4 955 with correct proccy batch nos

No it will not . Please rid the confusions of cpu bottlenecking the gpu.

I changed the PSU to Corsair CX 400 - 3k

Nvidia GTS 250 - 7.5k

It will crank your budget up by 1k.

There is a lot of difference between the 260 and 250.I want it to play all games for the next 2 years, that is why i had cut down on the processor and motherboard and bumped up the GPU. How much does a GTX 260 cost?

Firstly , if you get Athlon II x2 240 , your GTX 260 will not run at its true potential due to lack of L3 cache of Athlon II x2 240.

Lastly , running GTX 260 on Gigabyte 460w is suicidal for gpu.

You'll need a VX 450 to power GTX 260.

VX 450 - 4.1k

GTX 260 - 11k

So it will increase your budget to 28k

If you are that desperate for futurproof why not take ATI 5770 - 11k (DX11 futureproof)

P.S. - You don't need to believe me , just go to the link there , see the gaming comparisons between Athlon II x2 240 and Phenom II x2 550 and see the fps difference ?

I don't need to say , your eyes and brain will say when you see it.

i finally got my new rig.

AMD Phenom II X2 550BE

Gigabyte GA-78GM-US2H

2GB DDR2

9800GT

500GB HDD

Cooler Master 460W

Cooler Master 310

Thanks for all your suggestions!!
