Budget 71-90K Conflicted between choice of processor for a 4K build

Does it make sense going for a 5000 series Ryzen processor? Or can I go as low as a 3300x or even 10100F as long as I invest in a gorgeous monitor and RTX 3080.

When you're planning to invest in a GPU such as the RTX 3080 or the 3090, you need to match a competent CPU with that as well, so that there's no bottleneck.

Your CPU and GPU should be on the same contesting level. If you match a Ryzen 3300X with a RTX 3080, your GPU will be bottlenecked. Meaning, you'll not be able to use the full potential of your GPU.

Your CPU will run at 100% usage but the RTX 3080 will be used up only 50-60%, even at 4K. Your CPU will not be able to keep up with the better computational power of your GPU.

Pairing a Ryzen 3600 is the bare minimum with a RTX 3080.

Get a 3900X if the budget allows or 3600 if you want to save money. At 4K you will be GPU limited but then GPU should not be handicap due to weak CPU.

it depends what games you play fps or AAA , i think doom eternal is the only one which pulls 144 + fps ,invest in monitor + gpu ,3600 is available at good price ,its a small window go get it

It all depends upon your monitor.
Will it be 4k 120 or 4k 60?
If it's 120 or higher just get the 5600x.
It's the best vfm possible at >=120hz.
You would loose max 5% performance on the top end GPU's be it 3080, 3090, 6800xt. You can go higher on Ryzen 3 for that extra 5%. Just pair it with the right kind of RAM and you are in business.
How I see it is that with it you can even see a GPU upgrade from the 3080 in the next 3-4 years without much problem on it.
But if you have a 60hz monitor a 3300x would suffice. There will be unutilized performance but you can't use it. Depending upon the game ofcourse
