My Nokia 6630 finally gave up. Its time to hunt for another mobile. I like Asus P750. It has Sirf star 3 gps chip and powerful processor also its equipped with VGA touch screen which can be activated by home brew ROM.
In the same price tag N82 can be an option. 5 MP with xenon flash, VGA recording, con being non touch screen sub par gps performance.
Give your suggestion guys :D

it will be better if you specify ur requirement regarding the phone. do u require a multimedia n cam phone or u require a phone with business functionality, emailing and other stuff.

get your priorities clear and you are ready to sail through... if you want the best of both worlds then e71 it is!

From gsmarena: Below average GPS performance

My priorities
Fast UI performance
1. i wont be using mailing functions
2. gps is a must. i will be touring on motorbike
3. like touch interface but not a necessity
4. need 3rd party sw and games
5. Planning to buy creative zen. music is not priority
6. mediocre camera performance for emergency use
7. Not brand addicted
How is motorola ZN5? 5mp camera linux os

You want quality softwares + games + services, then i must suggest Nokia along with asking you to look at it with a slightly different perspective.

Not only is the S60 OS great, if not the best, and has excellent 3rd party apps available, but since the past 2 years, Nokia has completely overhauled the way you need to look at them.

They are no longer only a Phone manufacturer, instead, look at them with what microsoft calls "Software+Services+Hardware".

Their hardware was the best since a long time, but with the number of softwares and services they are launching, i am even more inclined to opt for their OS simply for the services they are offering.

* SportsTracker, along with the soon to be released NokiaVine
* n.Gage
* Ovi looks impressive eventhough it might just be a suite of conventional services
* They have been hell bent on popularising location based services, and after the success they met with with the SportsTracker, they are not focusing on the social possibilities of the service using Nokia Chat and FriendsView
* Every few months, they are launching something new and innovative (Check out Laboratories | Nokia Research Center)

Considering that these are what you get on top of one of the best OS and Hardwares, the deal simply becomes more irrestibile.

Talking of iPhone, the software support and the potential is immense, probably more than Nokia. But unless and until they improve their hardware, i would not recommend it for the price they charge.

If you mainly need gps, pick up a nokia navigator. Forgot the exact model # - but its priced around 12k.

This would be your best option!

The new Nokia Navigator is based on their latest S60v3 FP2 OS, is n.Gage compatible, afaik, offers 1 year free navigation.

Its cheap too. Go for it.

if u want a fast UI go with S60...WM devices have such high system specs because they need it to run, even then they are slow.

and mobile linux os is still very premature

gps performance of n82 is very fast and reliable, second only to n78 due to its external antenna on the back of battery cover . I have used n82 for 8 months and can safely say that :)

For snappy performance on winbo platform, get a device with 256mb ram atleast.

For symbian devices, 128mb ram is enough for blazing fast performance.

Thanks guys..I will check N82 and whats the current price ?. i am little bit excited abt Asus p750 coz of vga & touch screen. As i am using nokia 6630 symbian phone for quite some time i thought of picking winmo

I'd say go for a WM phone...most of the newer devices are most than fast enough...u'll get loads of different software...
I am using the HTC P3300 a model which is abt 2 yrs old but its still good enough. Its also got a SIRF STAR 3 gps module which is much better than the Qualcomm gps modules in the newer HTC models.
Also managing contacts and other information is much easier with WM...you can simply sync everything to the pc...i've always found Nokia's PC Suite very cumbersome and not at all user friendly.

WM all the way,

I have p320 here not very high on spec but gets most of the work done

* SPB shell helps me do away with windows interface and it runs faster

* I have literally stopped using the stylus, again tks to SPB

* The GPS module is pretty accurate, tried it with Google Maps

* Managing contacts is easy just use outlook

Here are some videos on the interface tweaks

SPB on an htc device but works the same anyway : YouTube - SPB Mobile Shell 2

If u don't like spb you can always g ofro the free option, pointui chk below :

YouTube - Windows Mobile 6 + PointUI

Wow.. nice Software. really interesting not the same boring WM. But how HTC touch can be so responsive with that 200 mhz processor

If you need a fast phone take a WM with atleast 400mhz processor and 128mb ram. there is software support for any kind of application you can think of.

well, 200 mhz can be responsive enough with the right software loaded.
mobile shell is pretty optimized. it runs fast even on my p3400 with 64 mb ram.

Its all to do with how ur software is code optimized, almost like how windows 7 runs smoothly on Asus eepc with low system spec, you don't necessarily need a 400mhz proccy to run common applications on phone, use the right software you can get most out of basic hardware. Remember PDA's no matter which make demand a patient user :P

If budget permits get a phone with faster proccy but keep the priority on the RAM the more the merrier, like there was a limited edition of htc touch with 128bm RAM running a 200 mhz proccy it used to run smoothly. Unfortunately its hard to come by.

From my personal experience its more to do with the right type of software.

Not all softwares available have optimized versions. i had asus p320 and had to sell it off because of too slow response with acrobat. the LE versions cant open large diagrams. with gps running if you want to access other applications it a pain.this anyway had only 64mb ram. all good UI applications need proper cpu and 128mb ram atleast. whichever handset you take go for 320x240 screen size.
