Hi

I am very confused on what to buy. I have following requirements on decreasing priorities

1) Something that can connect to my Sony 32 LED using HDMI or another way

http://www.sony.co.in/product/kdl-32ex520

2) Something which has multimedia and web surfing capability for watching movies, reading pdfs, Web surfing

3) Portable enough to carry around in home (confused on screen size although Max screen size 14 inch)

4) Budget as low as it can Max 26k

5) Usage Max 3 hours daily on weekdays 6 hours Weekends

6) NO GAMES AT ALL !!!!

I would prefer buying something from Hp as i can get any product at very competitive price

FYI I have P4 desktop at home currently

if you prefer HP, then you need to get a laptop (with hdmi out option) within your budget. Just check that it can do 720p or1080p over hdmi, so you can connect to your tv.

If you're interested. there's a Toshiba android device on ebay for 9.9K which runs on Tegra 2 chip and has just 4GB memory. Good thing is seller is bundling a 16GB card with it. The device has hdmi out and can do 720p / 1080p over hdmi port. It seems to be popular and can run for around 4-6 hrs.

^^ Thank you for the input I am thinking for going for a tab now but dont wana spent more coz if i dont like it i will buy a lappy.

So i have shortlisted following::-

1) Zync Z-990 tablet http://www.letsbuy.com/zync-z-990-black--p-39054

2) Veedee D10 Capacitive 7" Tablet http://www.ebay.in/itm/Pre-Sale-Veedee-D10-Capacitive-7-Tablet-PC-Cortex-A10-MID-Android-2-3-WIFI-1080-/380409162606?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item5892272b6e#ht_13595wt_1139

^ no you cant. there is a hack to install ubuntu on it but its difficult and you need a pc with ubuntu or linux on it. even i was interested in it after seeing the price. and thought of installing ubuntu on it. but the drawbacks are low battery life, no support for usb dongles in new version of ubuntu and some other like non working card etc.

this tablet uses a tegra chip and it wont support windows.

there is an android community working on this, but i doubt you will get to see anyone working on an android os upgrade for this. this device is almost 2 yrs old or something.

^^ Thanks Man price looks very tempting but I would prefer second hand Netbook that can support Windows if Android then i would go with the tablet ppl have successfully ported Android 4.0 on Veedee D10 Capacitive 7" Table Even Zync Z-990 table ill come with Android 4.0 only problem with them is there reliability no body know even if they ill last for 1 year

The reviews for the AC-100 are very good. However, just remember that all content played need not be hardware accelerated.

IMO, get a good tablet and enjoy. Once you get the Sony wireless USB adapter, setup your desktop to serve as DLNA server and stream to both tablet and TV from the PC.

You have a Pentium 4 at home. I would say you should definitely go for a Laptop rather than a Netbook. Netbooks should only be bought by people who have a pretty good Desktop or laptop as a primary device. Or by those who require a lot of portability (that too if they already have another primary bigger laptop or Desktop). I too have a Desktop + Netbook combination so I know the importance of both.

What you said would have been true if budget was not an issue. Since budget is quite low (for a laptop) i think Netbook is the best option for the needs the OP mentioned. Android devices have'nt quite matured enough to replace either netbook or laptops, they are good accessories, but i would'nt recommend them as replacements.

26K is pretty enough for a Laptop. These are some of them I found in Flipkart. Since he said he will be getting a discount on HP ones:

Some non HP ones. NOteit has 2nd generation i5 processors:

This one even has a dedicated nVidia graphic card along with a i5 processor:

I think it is great to have a Netbook. But it is pointless to have one if you don't have a powerfull enough primary Desktop/Laptop at home.

#baccilus He plans to get a HP probook.

However, he has not much use for a notebook except for watching stuff on his TV using HDMI, reading books [pdfs mainly, with images too+ audiobooks] and for web access.

^^ Thanks Vivek u got it

Now, I am planning to go for AINOVO 7 PALADIN at 7.6K
