Well this is for my uncle who's old crt is almost dead. He wants an lcd and has budget of max 20k or lower. (yup max 20k )

So he was asking me how i watch tv on my pc lcd monitor and what price it comes for.

I was going to recommend him the same setup i have to watch from a hd stb. viz. 20 (or 23inch) PC monitor connected to hd stb via hdmi cable. And the audio from stb connected to pc speakers via analog audio out.

Problem is his dishtv stb is not hd so only analog out. So that means spending 1.5 to 2k extra for a new hd stb or external tv tuner. plus 3k for speakers. that means 5k + 15k for monitor = 20k+.

Is a full hd lcd tv available in 20k or below? cause i'm seeing ads on futurebazaar, ebay etc with prices of 15k, 18k etc. Most probably they dont have the full hd reslution i think. Don't know what config they are so was wondering what should i tell him. :ashamed:

Also tv is all in one package. no need to switch on multiple things to watch.

^ even i was thinking its not available in that amount. but i was wrong. on lets buy there are full hd tv's available in 15-16k :S with coupon about 1-2k lesser.

size - 24 inch preferred. 32inch if possible but not necessary.

most are 1366x768 but i did see a sammy or philips 1920x1080 model around 20k i think.

edit: its this one - Philips 4000 Series 24PFL4505 24" Full HD LCD TV - Rs 15,890

why do u need a full HD 32" LCD ? Firstly there won't be ant visible difference in full HD and HD ready below 40" screens .. Secondly there is hardly any content for 1080p except maybe blu-ray movies .... my suggestion go for a 32" HD READY lcd ... u should get a lot of options from toshiba/panasonic and maybe lg/samsung around 20K

^ i can see difference in clarity in full hd. but that's cause i'm seeing it on a pc monitor from around 2 ft away. from >5ft cant see a difference though.

leaving that aside, can you tell me what model to advice? how about Samsung LA22D450G1R or the philips 24inch model mentioned above?

and 20k is the absolute max. i'm not sure my uncle would be willing to spend more than that amount.

^^^ i would say go for a 32" from toshiba- 32av800~17K/panasonic L32c22d`20-21K .... do a search on letsbuy .... there are a few more models below 20K mark....

^I think that is 1366x768 only iirc.

PC LCD doesn't make sense. Buy a HD ready LCD only. You should be able to find a 32" HD Ready for your budget. Will be a good replacement for the CRT TV.

32" Toshiba AV800 is HD ready not full hd price around 17-18k.

for 32" you will only get HD ready but since you want 24" you might be able to get full hd within your budget of 20k,but there will be very less and limited choices in this size range as most manufacturer make only HD tv in this size.

look at these 1st one is lcd, 2nd is led model

Get a Panasonic HD ready display from the X series. Shouldn't be beyond 25k. Pretty good display and has the analog input (duh! :P) as well.
