Connect a desktop using a wireless router

i am planning to buy a laptop and wish to create a wireless n/w.

Can i connect my old desktop to a wireless router say Asus RT-N16 using USB 2.0 ports or the Ethernet cable (LAN Ports) ?

Which would be the best wireless router that i can opt for?

My requirements:

1. At least one connection via an Ethernet cable (LAN)

2. Wireless with encryption and security

3. Internal Harddisk or storage facility

4. Be able to downoad (via torrents) while the PC and other decides are switched off,

5. For home use.

6. Pref below Rs. 6000
