what is that piece of hardware called using which my Tv becomes my monitor.

years ago when the tv was used as the monitor there used to be a lot of disturbances on the screen.. a lot of lines moving up and down. Does that still happen or will i be able to view the stuff on the TV without those irritating lines all over.

How much would this piece of hardware cost? do i need to install any other thing along with this. I dont have any extra graphics card or stuff. Just the intel motherboard 845 GBF.

u need a VGA to PAL converter.

or if u want TV connectivity than buy some cheap ATI Graphics card which will give u an S-Video out to RCA

a word of caution though: if you plan on using the tv as your primary display, you'd better think twice. it would be okay for watching movies on your big screen tv or playing games, but reading text off a tv for extended periods of time (i.e. doing work on your pc) is not recommended.

and if you simply have to, then a smaller tv set (12-14") will give better text readibility than the larger screens... unless of course you don't mind blowing up your font size (font DPI) to abnormal propotions in your display configuration (i.e. 120+)!

i have a Samsung 29" CRT Tv. WIreless keyboard and mouse.

So i thought of hooking up my pc to the tv so that i can operate it for checking mails and other small jobs from my bed.

Plz lemme know the brand and model of the car i require for the same. I have someone coming from the US.

Budget: under 100 USD. I hope thats enough. Will be happier if good cards are available for much less. 100 USD is upper upper limit.

using a TV for monitor purpose is as stupid Idea at allll!!

The TV's resoution is way to less than a proper monitor. The Pixel fillrate is too less so u see blurred & unclear, watching movies & Snaps is just fine but reading text will not be possible at all on ur CRT TV.

U have a pretty decent machine specs wise, why dont u use a proper monitor. If space is a constraint then buy an LCD. almost all good LCD's these days are betw 8500~9800.

^^ Meher is bang on spot, absolutely pointless to hook up a TV to a PC unless for watching movies (Not even gaming)

Thanks for the frank advice. I thought it would be as clear as a regular monitor.

So now wont even buy the card.
