connecting a laptop to a pc

hi is it possible to connect the laptop to a pc i mean to transfer matter if so how is it done thanks

If both have ethernet ports, get a crosscable and connect.

hi how do u setup the connection will the cable supplied by mtnl broadband work for this or is it a different cable

The mtnl cable worked for me. Just run the wizard, and you're done. hyeah:

He is talking about the network setup wizard. Find it in My Network places . Go on with the wizard after connecting the cross over cable on both the laptop and the PC. Give some common Workgroup

else simply give a common workgroup name on both the laptop and desktop, assign diff ips to each of them like 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2 and then search for the pc or find it in the network places and transfer the files

hi zhopudey how did u do it probs over here the pc can search for files on the lappy and even it is pinged but the lappy cant search for files is it due to the cable using the cable provided by mtnl triband or do i have to get a crossover cable can u plz explain it in steps how u did it thanks
