I have an old 80gb IDE HD which I used to use on my old Pentium 4 PC.

Now I got a new PC with i3 and mobo today.

However the IDE 80 gb is not getting connected/not detecting.

What do I do to make it work on this new pc?

You will have to enable the pata port in the bios. In latest mobos the pata ports are disabled by default since its an old technology and most people use only sata hdds nowadays. Moreover if possible sell your IDE drive and get a sata 250 or 500gb since IDEs support only a transfer speed of 133Mb/s and SATAs support 300Mb/s. Moreover your system speed wont be bottlenecked by your HDD

Hmm I already have another 1.5 TB of HDD's but I thought I might as well use the 80gb.

Maybe I can convert it to an external HD using casing? Could I do that without having to use Power Supply and just USB?

Oh and how do I enable PATA port in bios?

You will have it under chipset features. This is so in case of intel/asus mobos. Dont know what mobo you are using. Just go through each and every menu of your bios. You will come across something like "PATA or parallel ATA". Enable that...
