Connecting PS3,LCD TV, Home theater possible?

Hi,

Is it possible to connect a PS3(HDMI) to LCD TV(HDMI) to a home theater(non HDMI).

I have connected the PS3 and LCD TV via HDMi but want the sound to come from the home theater...Is it possible?
 
Depends on connections, I have similar setup as follows.

HDMI connection from TV to PS3.

Optical connection from tv to Home Theater. The sound via HDMI to the TV is 5.1 (Which I am assuming your tv supports since it has an HDMI connection) The optical connector to Home Theatre System is passthrough sound from the tv. When I want to here the Home Theater, I just switch it on and mute the TV for 5.1 surround sound. Sometimes I can't be bothered and I still have sound through tv too. I also have a DVR Satellite dish connected via HDMI to the tv, and it lso works the same using the Home Theater whenever I want 5.1
 
My so called "Home theater" doesnt have an option for optical aduio..

Here's what i tried:

Connected the ps3 and LCD via HDMI and connected the audio outs from the TV to the hometheater..i didnt get sound through the HT, only TV...

is there any thing else i can try?
 
@Fahrenheit what type of Home theatre component are you using is it in an AVR or something like a 5.1 HT package. Also mention the brand.
