connecting to net from VPC, Vmware

I am trying to connect to the ADSL connecton from my virtual pc but it dosent get connected. I did some checking and found that there was no adsl signal being received to the Virtual machine adapter. I am trying it right now on Vmware. i tried this earlier on Virtual PC but i had the same problem. I can access the modem configuration from the Virtual Machine which is running windows xp but i canno connect to net.
Is it impossible to connect to net from the virtual machine?

i think u can't access the ADSL modem frm 2 PCs at the same time.Try using bridged n/w from the host to the VPC and use a proxy (try tiny proxy frm www.analogx.com its just 250~KB) to connect to the net.
 
I am not trying to connect it simultaneously. I want to just connect from the guest os. even if i am not connected from host os i cannot dial in from guest os.
 
I dunno abt VPC but in VMWare u can add hardware to ur virtual system by right clicking on the name in the list and selecting EDIT.
