connecting two PC using cross wires

Hi,
I connected my PC and my laptop to transfer files using a crosswire.But the transfer rate is too less.Both the PCs r using windows xp.Can any one help me pls.

2. Speed of lan cards?

3. Wat does task manager -> networking tab show as %age usage? the tab will show you speed of link too.

In both of the PC's follow these steps :

Go to Control Panel -> Network Connection -> Select your Lan Connection

Right Click and Select Properties

In the upper right corner select Configure

Then Select Advanced Tab

After that select Link speed and change it to 100 Full Mode from the drop down menu.

If you are using vista the steps would be the same except the last one (they have added a lot of options and link is one of them, change the value from drop down menu from there )

i dont ..but it could add to low speed.. have u opted for auto ip? try using predefined ip....
