I want to extend my INTERNET connectivity in my house. Currently My modem (Beetel 450BX1, provided by Airtel) is connected in the basement; which just sucks in signal strength. I want to extend the range to whole the ground area, and thinking of connecting via another router may be Belkin, Netgear or Linksys through wireless connectivity.
So guyz Help me out. Can I do the same? What steps have to be taken? Which router I should go for? This is first time I am doing it, so dont have much a knowledge. Hope to receive better reply from your guyz.:huh::huh::huh:

Router 1 -------- Connected to main computer through LAN

Router 2

‪Extending wireless network range with a repeater HP and Netgear‬‏ - YouTube
  1. Temporarily connect router 2 to your Lan and connect to its settings.
  2. Set router 2 to enable Repeater mode.Set router 2 to be a repeater.
  3. Enter the MAC address of router 1 (AP\Access Point) in router 2's repeater mode settings.
  4. Disconnect router 2 from lan and place it within the wifi range of router 1.
  5. Connect to router 1's settings.
  6. In the repeater settings section set router 1 to be an AP.
  7. Enter the MAC address of router 2 (repeater)

This is the basic setup of any repeater - access point section. Please note you can only set up the routers to use WEP or Open in this form which isn't very secure. The only other option would be to get a DD-WRT router and follow this: DD-WRT Tutorial 5: Wireless Repeater
This has the advantage of being secure, but you cannot access the PCs connect to one router from PCs connected to the other (internet is available on both, however).
