I have recently purchased Edifier DA5000Pro 5.1 music system. Its working fine with PC. Now, i want to connect it with my 40" Samsung LED TV. The port details are stated below:

On TV Backpanel:
5x RCA Female ports with first two having Stereo R and L marked.
1x 3.5mm Female port.
1x SPDIF port.
1xHDMI(extra).

On Subwoofer of speakers:
3 pairs(Red and White) of RCA female ports with 3 pairs meant for full 5.1 connection with DVD player.
1 pair of RCA female with inscribed PC above it.
1 pair of RCA female with Aux R L inscribed above it.

I tried connecting the RCA male cable from Aux RL of speaker to Stereo RL of TV but there is no sound output on selecting external audio source from TV.

Please suggest me what should i do to connect my speakers with TV for best audio output and full 5.1 functioning. I can buy some other cables as well like convertors etc. Secondly will connecting to 3.5mm jack from RCA of subs to TV make full functioning of 5.1 system?

i have the same system, but its kept connected to the PC and console. for TV, i have another 5.1 system, which is connected to the STB, ie, the RCA ports of the STB are connected to the Aux. RCA ports of that system, while the STB in turn is connected to the TV via HDMI. if you are using an STB, try this configuration, ie, connect the RCA ports of the STB to the Aux. RCA ports behind DA's sub.

Will it make all my speaker satellites work? The STB has 3 RCA outs(tatasky HD STB). Alternatively, do the hd channels with dolby mentioned actually transmits those signals?[DOUBLEPOST=1428247564][/DOUBLEPOST]
Upload pictures of the back panel of both SW & TV it'll be easier to help you

If your STB has only two audio output channels then you won't get a true 5.1 output by connecting directly to the SW - Spkrs system. If your STB is capable of 5.1 output or Dolby dts output via hdmi interface then, You'd need a AV Receiver capable of 5.1 and Dolby dts.

First check your STB specifications whether it's capable of 5.1 & Dolby output via HDMI interface. Then invest in a good AV receiver. It'll take hdmi in from STB and give 5.1 to your sw-spkrs & HD video to TV. All other cables, splitters won't give you the genuine 5.1 output with impeccable surround experience what you're expecting. You're better off investing in good 2.1 instead.

Pioneer VSX 322 (15k) would be the cheapest & VFM. You can connect a Blu-ray player too and get a 5.1 output, as the best 5.1 output is on Blu-ray media . Investing in a good AV receiver is better in the long run.
Is your SW active or Passive?

how to identify if they are active or passive?

they are active i suppose. it have the amp etc

Yes if it has a power supply attached to it with amp it's Active, because pioneer vsx 322 works better only with active SW setup.

@harshit143, those are av input ports. The only output port I can see looks like a stereo headphone jack.
Also I can confirm that the TataSky HD+ stb outputs 5.1 Dolby/Dolby Digital Plus sound in many HD channels via hdmi. ex- Star World HD, Pix HD, NGC HD, Discovery HD. The 3 rca outputs on the stub are for component output. You will get only stereo output from the RCA out ports. There's also an optical port plus a coaxial port so you can make use of those to get high quality digital sound to your receiver if you're planning to buy one.
