I am looking for a gaming console for kids, my cousin is around 8 years old and hyperactive.

If I give him a PS2 he will damage the damn thing within a week or two.

Some one gave him that cheap 500 bucks 8 bit console, and it got spoilt in a week.

I was actually looking for a old PS1 , are they still available ?

Any other consoles that suit kids.

I am looking to spend around 1 k not more, used consoles will also do.
 
#Havok, I think you'll be very hard pressed to find the PS1 in the regular market and that too for 1k. But there may be Chinese knock-offs available in grey market or stores like alpha (in mumbai).
 
Get him an old GBA or an old Nintendo DS (the Phat model). Those things are built like a brick and the games are fairly cheap as well.
 
Just as Altair said, a handheld would be the best for a Kid.. Let him grow up and appreciate home consoles before giving him one
