So I'm looking for a controller to play FIFA 11 on the PC. There's a list of some officially supported controllers, yeah, but I was wondering whether those are actually the only ones supported, or can other controllers be supported too? By supported, I mean 360 degree controls, not just 8 directional controls using the analogs.

I've heard other controllers can be supported via some registry hack or something but I'm not sure.

Then, what are the options????? Chinese controllers (PS2 look-alike) are available for rs. 300-400 everywhere..... Go for it. They are usually good. I have used a few and yet to come across a defective controller....

Yeah I'll buy it as a last resort, don't feel like spending 1.4k on a controller

superb compatibility with wide range of games

lasts long, really really long

it costs 1.4k but is worth every penny.

I agree with desiibond. The x360 controller is well built, good functionality, the best on PC.

But, if you want to map with other controllers and stuff, xpadder might help. Not sure though.

How about getting a Logitech F310? Price 1.2k. No Rumble but has a floating D-PAD (Similar to Sega Saturn controller) which should be good for Street Fighter as well.

and dont go for chinese if you want analog. the analogs dont last. There was this guy who i used to buy my stuff from. I saw the Chinese gamepad at his place and asked him about it, he said play on the keyboard instead. :D

^^ It depends man... I have tried 2 chinese controllers over a period of 2 years from 2005 - 2007. ( I bought x360 controller in 2007).... The chinese controllers were awesome for the price. SUre they had stiff buttons and short cable, but they lasted for at least 10 12 months... Rs. 300 for 10 months = Rs. 30/month.... Not bad for someone who does'nt want to spend 1100 on an x360 controller. To each his own.....

It is wrong to say that Chinese controllers are not worth for their price ,i still have 4 Chinese Controllers and 1 Xbox Controller. As atiamd said some of them do have stiff buttons but they are definitely worth at the price they are available. I still have the controller which i bought in 2006 and believe it or not It is still working fine. It's just that the labels on the buttons etc have vanished. :P Its just the matter of care.(which i don't think is needed if controller is worth Rs.200 :P )

@cyanide911: My suggestion would be, try out both Chinese/PS2 and Xbox Controllers, ask from a friend to lend you their controller for a day or two. Then Decide for which one do you want to go for. Best of luck. :)

It's not just about durability. The fact is, if you buy an XBox 360 controller, will be able to play the game straight up rather than wasting your time trying to configure it, Lately I tried to play DIRT 3 split screen with a PS2 and an Xbox360 controller. It was a royal pain to configure the Ps2 controller.

You wont have to configure the logitech F310 controller because it will get detected as xbox controller in games only the rumble is missing.

I dont like rumble but i will still choose the xbox over the logitech because of its build quality.
