I'm looking forward on buying a heatsink for my new Core i5 2500k rig and was planning to buy a Cooler Master V6GT heatsink for it. Now, from all the reviews I have scoured and read on the internet the cooler seems to be a rather well performing one but yes it's a tad louder due to the default fans it houses. I plan on changing the default fans to 2 Gentle Typhoon's in time but nevertheless I'm looking for some advice from my mates here at TE about whether getting this cooler is a good buy or not?

It's priced at about 4.9k in Kolkata. Should I get get this or rather invest in the much lower priced Cooler Master 212+ which also appears to be a rather great cooler for it's price point.

Regards,

P.S. Please do not suggest the Noctua d-14, I hate the looks of it and it's not going into my rig.

Noctua u12pse2? I seriously doubt a lot of people even need D14s.

Thanks Sorcerer for the reply. But what I question is, is it really going to be worth spending the extra dough on it when compared to the 212+?

^^ I guess that will depend on how much you are going to push the i5. For a 24/7 stable 4.3-4.5Ghz a 212+ should suffice I guess.

^^ Yup, that's the idea, 4.3 stable. In that case will the CM 212+ with 2 X Scythe Gentle Typhoon's be a better decision?

Hyper 212+ should do you fine. I ran my E7400 on it @ 4 GHZ, 24x7. You CPU is much more efficient and cooler.

I had the Hyper 212.

Instead of buying CM Hyper 212+ along with 2x Gentle Typhoon fans i would advice you to buy Noctua NH-U12P SE2 ~ 3.7k... See Hyper 212+ is selling for 1950 and 2x Gentle typhhon would cost you 1800 bucks so the overall cost would jump to 1950 + 1800 = 3750... I am sure that Nocua NH-U12P SE2 would perform better than Hyper 212+ (with Gentle Typhoon Fans)... And Noctua NH-U12P SE2 comes with 2 x NF-P12 Fans which are dead silent... :)

Awrite, thanks guys for all the input. I'll read some more reviews and decide by today evening which one I'm going for. :)

remember the GT's are not 4 pin based fans they are 3 pin based only.

The fan will be running in full speed every time you power on the system.

sorry for hijacking the thread but i want to know that what if we compare the noctua NH-U12Pse2 and noctua NH-U12DX as only difference of 350 rs. is their, so what will be the different between them and also if we compare this both to the Noctua d-14 .

and overall comparing all three above with the hyper 212+ in term of temperatures at 4 ghz on any 4 core or 6 core ??????

and should the stock fans on them should do the work or we will need to upgrade them for better results ???????

+ as the noctua u12dx is 1366 capable so will it fit i5 sandy ???????

and one more question that if only the noctua NH-U12Pse2 Vs. Noctua d-14 are having the fight how much difference should we get ?????
