Any suggestion on which cpu is the coolest under $100

Get an E7200/E4600/E2180 and Underclock/Undervolt it suitably.

If you don't mind a single core, a Celeron 430 should run even cooler.

And if you absolutely need something low power, then get an Atom proc (although your board option is limited to the one it comes with).

If you could mention your application, would help us suggest something suitable

Atom is the coolest. No fan needed. Under $100 including motherboard . You might need a fan to cool the chipset though.

Quite a few reviews show the AMDs having lost the power advantage as well. The lower power Athlon X2 BE procs aren't available out here either AFAIK.

However the AMD may work out to be a better choice, if you require a lower-power 'platform' on the whole (like a HTPC setup). Hence I asked what his application was.

I'd get a 7200. You always have the option to overclock it for performance if needed in the future.
