Copying Contacts To Windows Mobile 6.0??

Hi folks i got a new windows mobile as a gift from my pop it has ver 6.0 i am having difficulty in syncing contacts.When ever i connect the phone and open the windows mobile connectivity center. I am not able to select the options of contacts ,email and rest in the device settings.All i can sync is files and not contacts:( Can some one help with the same ?? Btb i was using N73 which died some days ago and has more than 500 contacts ,how do i copy the contacts from the n73 to the windows mobile ,all the contacts are in machine my n73 doesn't even turn on :cry: Thanks in advance :clap: :clap:

do you have outlook installed on yuor machine?

Was the phone paired with another device earlier? If yes, then remove the pairing from the activesync setting in the phone. Then try pairing again.
 
Yes i have outllok but not configured :ashamed: .Is it necessary to be configured??.Regarding pairing this is the first time i am connecting my phone to the laptop..

well, wm will sync contacts direct from outlook. what i would say is create a outlook profile and import your n73 contacts to outlook.

then once u conncet your wm mobile, the stuff will be synced automatically. mind you though by default the sync will overwrite all the phone contacts if they are not present in outlook.

Usually you use the nokia software to sync the contacts from the nokia phone to windows address book and then sync the windows mobile phone with the windows address book

But since your nokia is dead not sure how to go about it
 
Where exactly are your contacts stored in your machine presently ? I mean in which format ?
 
got some work around working on it still have small bug will post results in some time
Got the work around folks. I am happy that i was able to upload contacts to the mobile ,it was a lil bit tedious task but had to google a lot .No wonder google is the best search engine :P.Alright here is the entire guide.( I guess i can post it in guides @ tutorials)

My issues was i had more than 500 contacts in .vcf format stored in my system ,couldn sync coz of my stupid phone settings.

1) please follow the below link and do the steps as mentioned

Importing .vcf files to windows

After goin thru the link i had ran into many issues as follows

1) I could not add the.vcf files to windows contacts as i did not have option to add/edit/import contacts toolbar in the windows contacts folder,here is what i did to get the toolbar click on organize-->properties -->customize--->customize now select the drop down menu for use this folder template as contacts and click on ok that is when the toolbar in windows contacts appears.

2) Now another issue was that i could not upload the contacts from windows contacts folder to the windows live mail coz the app which is used ( Windows live contact importer ) has a bug every time it tried to upload gives a error message saying Internet connection lost please try later ,now again i got pi$$ed off but google again came to resuce ,its a known issue in the tool there was no resolution at all ,our own member "alsiladka" had issues and he had posted the same on wakoopa.Here is the link to his post Issue on Windows live contacts importer

To work around this issue had remembered ^bitsandpeices PM where in he asked me to create a .csv file using outlook but it was a tedious process.But tried creating the same from Windows Contacts export menu and later logged in to mail.live.com and imported the .csv file and followed the same process mentioned in the link which i have posted the above.

Sorry for the mistakes i have made .Posted here so that it will be helpful to others

@mods please do let me know if i can post it in guides and tutorials ,do i have to make any changes??
