Thanks you all. Let me check the market :hap2:vinayaga said:I have gone through a variety of phones in the last few years, so Im well qualified to answer this !!!
If you are clear that you do not want your phone to interfere with your wireless networks (wi-fi interference), your choices are limited to three options, 900mhz, 5.8ghz and Dect phones. Out of these, the 900mhz phones are hardly available and are being phased out. 5.8ghz phones are available in plenty with Panasonic, Uniden and G.E, but these phones come with high capacity and non-standard batteries which cost over Rs 600 to change every two years. Not worth it.
The best option right now is the DECT phones. These work on the 1.8ghz to 1.9ghz range, thus are wireless friendly. Most importantly, they take AAA rechargable batteries that are easily available and thus have a 150 hour standby time on the supplied batteries. If you buy higher capacity AAA rechargable batteries, the standby time increases like crazy ! Panasonic and Philips makes the best DECT phones and Panasonic is easily available in the grey market and ebay, Im not sure about the availability in the showrooms (I have noticed that the showrooms are still pushing the old cordless Panasonic models).
I recently bought Panasonic KX-TG7233 DECT phone from ebay and am extremely happy with the quality and clarity.
In case the previous message about wireless interference did not register with you, the issue is that the widely available 2.4ghz phones work on the same band as your wireless routers. So they clash and you will keep getting disconnects on either side when the phone and the wireless router are on simultaneously. For your sake and for the sake of your neighbours, please do not get a 2.4ghz phone !!!
A Panasonic basic DECT Phone costs Rs 2.1k in ebay. You can get it for slightly cheaper than this price in the grey market.
