Core i5 - 1st vs 2nd vs 3rd

Your remarks to buy 1st Core i5.

Requested to remarks with respect to Performance & Battery Life when compared with 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen i5
 
I have used 1st and 2nd.
Well, 2nd has much better battery life and performance compared to first.
I previously used Core i5 460M and now I use i5-2430M
The newer one is a tad faster, but battery life almost doubled! I get 4-5hrs at times.!
I think the newer Ivys have much betetr battery life, so I recommend you to go for 2nd gen at the least!

Thanks, If i spent 5K extra I getting 2nd Gen + USB3+Better Bluetooth V4
 
Dear members,

I have used i5 2nd and i5 3rd gen both.
Right now I am using Lenovo G580 with i5 3rd gen with 3210M Processor, and I felt that the performance is superb. Prior I have used Dell Inspiron 2nd gen with 2450M Processor, the battery life was about 3hrs - 3hrs 30mins but with i5 3rd gen battery life is about 4.5hrs to 5hrs, maximum what i get was 6hrs while watching internet browsing (3 hrs) movie (2 hrs) and gaming (1 hr).

I think that going with 3rd gen would be better.
