CPU/Mobo Core i5 2500k Temperatures..

I have following configuration :

Core i5 2500k (Stock Cooler)

Asus P67P8 Motherboard

MSI GTX560N-Ti TFII OCed Edition

I have NZXT Gamma Cabinet (I know it's too small :/, need to change it :/) but have installed two CM Fans inside it for better air flow (Front intake, rear exhaust)

CPU Temperatures are always high, like 60C when I use it below average (Firefox, Music, couple of light applications like uTorrent, Origin etc). I know temperatures are high for all the Sandybridge processors. But whenever I start playing games like BF3 CPU Temperature goes above 80C..

Do I need to worry about it? Do I need to get a Liquid cooler?

^^ Get a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO ~2100/-, also before any purchases try to re-TIM and reseat the stock Heat Sink Fan. For more on how to reseat and apply TIM to your CPU, follow these steps --> http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2009/02/16/all-about-tim/1 / http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/What-is-the-Best-Way-to-Apply-Thermal-Compound/1303.

As for the rest of the configuration, is the CPU running @stock speeds OR is it running over-clocked?

What SMPS do you have Sire.

If that doesn't work then and only then go for the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. Hope this helps, Cheers!!

CPU running at stock and powered by SeaSonic S12II 620w SMPS.. How if I go with any liquid cooler (Corsair H80 or H100)

Also any pictures of the interior of your cabinet [showcasing cable routing / management] will be most helpful.

To expensive, I'll recommend you go for the Noctua NH-U12P SE2 ~3900/- if you plan to over-clock your CPU, this will be more than enough.

Actually, The area where I live is bit dusty. So I was thinking to avoid air coolers. Liquid Coolers are bit expensive but they are better in terms of cooling right?

^^ The go for the Corsair H80 it is the best compromise between cooling performance, noise + price of product.

The H60 isn't a real step-up over the top end Noctua offerings and gets noisy as time goes and H100 is too expensive to be recommended. Hope this helps, Cheers!!

I have a feeling the auto voltage settings has set it a little high. Do some reading on OC'ing your cpu and what sort of voltage range it should be at. At stock speeds you can then set just the voltage manually and that itself should fix the temp problems you are having.

Those temps are too high for SB, reapply TIM and reseat the HSF properly, watch videos on youtube, they should help you. Once you have seated it correctly, you will see temps fall, dont spend on a TP cooler if you dont plan to OC.

I have the i5 2500k at stock speeds and stock HSF, mine idles at 40" and climbs to 60" during gaming. I think you need to re-apply Thermal paste as mentioned, and make sure the HSF is seated correctly. Make sure you do not over apply the paste, as that would be counter productive.

i had a similar issue which was later resolved when i re fixed the hsf.

am sure your hsf is not installed properly before going for liq cooling and all just refix your hsf properly

am using a cm430elite and my temp are

before

50idle and 77 full load(using firefox and other light stuff)

after fixing hsf again

38 idle 65 under full load(gaming bf3)
