does anyone have the new i7 920 that came with a fan?
is the fan any good?

i'm asking cause i can get a i7 920 for a bit cheaper WITHOUT a fan though and i'm pretty sure i've already read that most people get a different fan anyway, especially those that overclock. sound right?

and could u recommend a good fan (i have NO IDEA in this area) :(
have seen some zalman and arctic cooling freezer fans but they are not core i7 compatible :(

thanks in advance!!

It does the job if you plan to run the processor at stock speeds, but if you overclock, you are better off with an aftermarket cooler. Unlike the Core architecture processors, they run really hot.

i'm not sure if the chip is OEM. the company was selling the 'BOX' edition of the i7 920 but those soldout today and now they sell the 'TRAY' edition.

i'm buying it in sweden.

the only difference in the specs on their site is that the FAN is NOT included. should be all good.

any fan recommendations?

ok, have decided on this fan but i can't get the actual 'dark knight' but can get the slighty older Xigmatek HDT-S1283.

so my ??? is, can i use that cooler on my LGA1366 MOBO (which is an asus p6t deluxe v2) or do i need to get the conversion kit of Xigmatek Crossbow I7361 for Core i7.

i can't believe a fan is holding up my new rig purchase, haha!

Box edition, tray edition, lifalfa edition.

one final ????

will the Xigmatek S1283 dark knight (i found one) fit into a COOLER MASTER 690 case?????

and how are we supposed to know something like this before we buy it????

i really think stock fans are not very good for i7's

if i were you i would buy a good cooler and then try to OC it coz i have seen this OCing like a beast
