It'd be better if you go for Corsair VX550W-4.6k OR Seasonic S12ii 620W-4.5k instead of Corsair GS500 series,Can you post your full config?
Phinom II X 2 550BE, biostar TA790GX, 4 gb Transend(2*2gb DDR2), 9500 gt, is my present config running on Zebronics 400w platinum series. now my friend is selling his 955 and gtx 560. I would like to buy it. I want to replace only my Processor and psu.

True the Corsair VX family SMPS have been out of production and are no longer available in the market.
It would be best if you get a Seasonic S12II 520W ~3800/- and finish the deal. The GS 500 will be just capable of pulling the load of a quad-core Phenom II processor and GTX 560in tandem, add to this its efficiency will suffer. Whilst the Bronze rated Seasonic SMPS has a credible output rating as well as can maintain its efficiency at higher operating temperatures.

Even if Seasonic S12II 520 and Corsair VX550 are better series, GS500 is sufficient for powering your PC and mild overclocking. I'd suggest , don't upgrade your PSU yet and go buy SSD instead ( marvell controller ) like Corsair Performance Pro or Crucial makes.

Why I'm suggesting Corsair GS500 is sufficient ? Because it can deliver more than 350W @ 48-50C ( high temps ) with efficiency more than 84% which is outstanding ! and has enough Amp rating on +12V rails

Seasonic S12II 520 have 20 A in 12 v rail. GS500 have 39 A on 12 v rail,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, is it enough
Seasonic has 40A on dual rails. GS500 has 39A on dual rails. GTX 560 requires PSU to have min 31 A which is more than enough.
I gave enough reasons to save your money. Next is your choice.

Dude, you didn't researched the links which i gave you. If you're going to buy new one Get Seasonic SII 520W.. Nothing else. If you already have GS500, no need to upgrade.
The differences between the field [actual] performance and the theoretical performance is immense. Here are a few pointers in favour of the Seasonic unity over the Corsair --
- rated 80+ Bronze efficiency @50 degreess celsius while the latter is rated at 80+ Standard efficiency @40 degrees celsius;
- he does not have a Corsair GS500W SMPS, he has a Zebronic Platinum 400W;
- the connectors on the Seasonic are more numerous and more inline with a full ~500W unit vis-a-vis the Corsair unit;

Well, I thought he already had GS600. OP go with Seasonic since you haven't bought PSU. Well, about GS500, I've posted links where the Unit was stressed using their benchmark tool and we all know that we rely on such sites to get PSU which caters to our needs. Even GS500 survives at same temp ( ~50C ) maintaining 80+ efficiency throughout various loads. Though, I'll vote for Seasonic , but saying GS500 can't survive isn't practical.
