Slightly OT: but Naga.. try the Buffalo's honestly.. they write @ 30-32.. 700 mb file in around 30 seconds..if im not wrong! and the cost is pretty less compared to the corsair

Damm this sucks, I was planning to buy this drive.

Do we get 8 Gb, 16Gb Buffalo drives in lamington Road. Ive the 2gb buffalo and i get 25 Mbps write speeds (Real World)

Any idea where I can get the 16 GB here in India? That speed is almost double the GT speeds :O ! I'd gladly pay a small premium for that!

Wonder why there are no deals regarding those here on TE?

Edit: Can't find any on Amazon either. Seems Buffalo doesn't sell flash drives in the US. Wonder why???

When the Corsair 4GB was being sold for 800/- I paid Prime 1250/- for 4GB Buffalo, I bought the Buffalo because I was told something to the affect like what you mention. :)

Here are HDBench benchmarks with my Buffalo on the left and the Corsair 16gb GT on the right.

^^ thats cause Buffalo was sued or was suing.. ( dont remember exactly) and they stopped selling the drives in the us.. however.. i did own a 2gB one and it used to write at those speeds.. till it died.. the RMA is crappy here..

So i suggest if you are buying one.. be ready to say goodbye when it dies.. lol

Again if im not wrong the GT's are slow now cause they use cost effective MLC chips .. i think buffalo still uses the SLC chips(not sure)

Do you have the turboUSB one or just the normal one ? :P

My first Buffalo was a 2gb one which was so slow that I think it was nearly dead when I got it... it used to write at around 3MB/s :O Prime let me upgrade this to my current 4gb drive. I have installed the TurboUSB drivers, without this the Buffalo drive is slow. :)

The MLC chip 'chakkar' is given on the page I linked above ... Questions about speed of the 16GB Voyager GT - The Corsair Support Forums

Not really.. i have transferred quite a few things .. even benched it twice.. so did sathyanaidu ... we easily got around 28-30 without the drivers and 30-32 with them .maybe yours are/were defective :P

I think its time we got an IC for this in the Hot Deals section.. ill have a chat with my dealer and get back to you guys.

Ic updated in the Hot Deals and Discussions Thread... will let you guys know soon if i get a good number of people.

Ok just read this thread, but did you guys try to format the pendrive completely?

In OSX disk utility, there is an option to delete/clean the free space available, thi essentially means that wen the files are deleted, the Os, just removes their name form the file table, here, the spaces/bytes are actually written to "0"..

If anyone's still bothered to do some research/trial and error, check it out..
