Today when I touched my Corsair XMS3 DDR3 memory modules and they were running way too much hot imo. But I have no operating issues like system bsod or hangs.

I got 4 Corsair XMS3 DDR3 2 modules, each of 2gb and running at stock 1333MhZ clock. System isnt oced at all. Nor i play any games or heavy work but just net surfing, downloading and some ms office work.

They have got heat-spreaders and thats where i touched and felt exxxtreme hot. So is it normal or do i need to worry as I'm already worried. :scared14: I measured the temp with external temp monitor and its between 47-55'C

Also on corsair site they havent mentioned its safe operating temperature ranges :(

Please advice on the same.... m much much worried.

Just touched mine. They're pretty hot too but they've not given trouble or thrown errors so I shouldn't be worried if I were you.

What is the ambient temperature inside your cabinet OR what are the temperatures for your other components; because of the heat-spreaders passive nature of cooling, high ambient temperatures can reduce the efficiency of their heat dissipation.

Best is try to improve your airflow, I have seen your RIG images [the gallery section] is the blue fan on top an intake OR an exhaust?
Switch it to exhaust mode [if it is an intake] ASAP to move the hot air from the area.
Also is there any provision for 120mm fans in your RIG?

Hope this helps, Cheerio!!

The top and rear blue fan is the exhaust one and the side panel fan is intake. I didnt face this issue with my previous corsair value rams and transcend or kingston ram.

Did this strike suddenly OR has the temperature been going North steadily with the onset of summers?

The ambient temperatures should not shoot up so suddenly until your computers airflow is poor [which I suspect else you would have issues earlier] and think you have had these RAM modules for ~1 year now, right.

I do not think the side-panel fan is even capable of affecting the overall situation [from P.O.V. of RAM], because it is an 80mm fan.

What about the 120mm fans query I posed earlier?

There is 120mm provision but just in place of rear fan. But i dont think i should opt for it as it has been 5 months now I'm using these rams. I guess it may be because yesterday my system was on some suspicious load (even though imo it wasnt on any loads but dont know what was hogging as the system was still functioning perfectly smooth without any slowness/hangs/or such observation and no process was eating anything) and the hdd led light on cabby was constantly glowing and thus the temps went beyond 48c+. Right now my pc is on since morning and the temps are below 42C. I hope this is perfectly normal. And i'm talking just about the ram temps as i inserted the thermal diode of my cabby's thermal sensor in-between the sticks since last night.

That should be normal i guess. I had xms3 before and it used to get hot. That's just the heat sink doing its job. Nothing to worry about unless you are experiencing bsods or other errors.
Sent from my GT-I8350 using Board Express

Just to be on the safe side of things Ronit, why don't you run a pass with HijackThis and do a thorough anti-virus scan. See what that turns up.

Apart from that I do no know why your system should run under inexplicable load levels.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!!

Yup i did that alpha17 and found my system clean :)
My room temps are 33-37c, the temp inside my cabby is 32-38 so i guess ram temps in 40s is normal according to the environment temps i mentioned. Still i would like to know rams temps of you and many more people here...just curious for comparisons..

The only hitch, I do not own a digital thermometer OR have any device with which to register temperatures.

If you know any way shoot.

I am in Delhi, ambient temperatures --

DURING DAYTIME --
Processor ~37 -->44 Degrees Celsius [on idle to moderate load]; 50 -->53 Degrees Celsius [on load, gaming et al]
Graphics cards ~50 -->55 Degrees Celsius [whilst idle OR desktop]; 65 + Degrees Celsius [while gaming]
Hard-drives ~36 -->38 Degrees Celsius

NIGHT TIME --
Processor ~35 -->42 Degrees Celsius; 48 -->52 Degrees Celsius
Graphics cards ~50 -->55 Degrees Celsius [whilst idle OR desktop]; 65 + Degrees Celsius [while gaming]
Hard-drives ~36 -->38 Degrees Celsius

Temperatures in Delhi are horrendous [can easily touch ~45 -->48 Degrees in areas] and I stay in a flat on the 9th Floor [TOP] of the building. So you can understand.

Wish you luck,. Cheerio!!
