Athlon 64 FX 62 should be between 40~50k (may even more). There were no price reductions on FX series I think.
An E6400/E6600 is a much better option than that. My E6300 seems to match the Athlon 64 FX in many tests in Sandra 2007. In some it even surpassed it.

The FX55 is down to less than $200 i think in the US. Newegg had a bundle of a hdd and the proccie for abt 200 bux. Sucks here in india tho. Go with the conroe.

As i know amd64 4000+ and Fx 55 are just 50$ difference.
where amd 64 4000+ runs at 2.4 at 1mb l2 and fx 55 runs at 2.6 at 1mb l2.
